Britain's gold medal winner rules out pro switch

Nicola Adams has confirmed in tonight's Yorkshire Evening Post that she had no interest in turning pro and is keen to defend her title in Rio.

In the same article, Anthony Joshua was making similar noises and expressed an interest in the new AIBA world series.

Rob McCracken also expressed a hope that he could keep his team together and, according to the reporter, Hull's Luke Campbell is the Olympian most likely to be swayed by the pro game.

Good amateur is Campbell but not sure how his style will translate to the pros.

APB, AIBA Pro Boxing, will start next year - so I wonder if any of the medalists will be tempted by that, as they can still compete in the next olympics. I guess it depends on the kind of money on offer. Lomechenko and a few others have already signed on to APB.

Joshua will likely receive some big offers from around the world to go pro which might be hard to turn down. Stalker is what 27? He'll probably turn over and I'd imagine Selby will too, just because I can't see him hanging on another 4 years for Rio.

Makes sense for Adams she can probably make as much as an amateur in the Team GB system as she could in the pro game and there is probably better competition there also.

It makes a lot of sense for Anthony Joshua to stay amateur for at least another world championship, he has good tools - strong jab and is a strong lad, a lot of power and fast hands, however he has a lot to learn in terms of positioning himself in the ring and adapting to his opponent, at least one more year with meaningful contests against good opponents where a loss doesn't matter and he can fight regularly, will be much better than a year KOing tomato cans once every two months!

I'm guessing Matchroom will have a head start on signing pro terms as there is already the Froch McCracken tie up.

Selby shouldn't go pro because there is only really one good weight division below Lightweight in the UK and that is Bantamweight and there is a possibility by the time he makes it to British title contention those names will be in other weight classes.

I hope Joshua doesn't go pro but I think he will go over to the pro game. I see Campbell going pro but I can't really comment on the other guys.
