The tune changed a few days later.
Kev simply might not be up to it in the whiskers department in order to hang with guys at a higher level. That and he is too easy to tag. An old Johansson had him in plenty of trouble in their tear up.

The only way Mitchell can prove that night was a blip is to do a number on a number of world class fighters. Katsidis was never elite level, he always fell short.
He was saying The better man won 'on the night' and yes Katsidis was better...'On that given night'. Are you talking about the same 'Johansson' who dropped Ricky Burns three times and went on to clearly outscore him? Burns being knocked down by the same heavy punches Johannson hit Mitchell with? The same punches Mitchell shock off and KO'd Johannson? My point is 'yiddo14' you cannot go by past fights with the same fighter. Just because man A lost to man B, man A beat man C doesn't mean man B will beat man C. Johannson didn't get anywhere near World level but dropped and beat Burns so you contradict yourself when you say "The only way Mitchell can prove that night was a blip is to do a number on a number of world class fighters. Katsidis was never elite level, he always fell short"....So did Johannson who beat Burns
I didn't contradict myself at any point. I didn't mention Burns in my post, because, well, he didn't need mentioning!
Johansson v Burns has nothing to do with the point I'm making, which is Mitchell was comprehensively beaten by Katsidis, an old Katsidis at that, and a Katsidis that never made the true elite level. Kevin said he lost to the better man, which he did, nothing to do with the night. Had the fight taken place 6/9/12/15 months earlier Mitchell would have still got stopped. Now might be different as Katsidis has faded even more. My point is Katsidis beat him because he is a better fighter and had his number, nothing to do with how poor or good Mitchell was. That version of Katsidis beats Mitchell 10 times out of 10.

For Kevin to prove that night was just a blip ( which some seem to suggest ) he needs to overcome a few top tier fighters, guys as good and possibly better than Katsidis. Ten that claim might have some credibility. In my opinion of course :TU:

Johansson ( a fading Carl at that point too ) giving Kevin a real scare suggests he may not have the durability against the top guys.

Not sure where your fighter A beats B who beat C so A beats C generic analogy ( believe it or not few of us here do realise boxing doesn't work like that! ) comes in to play! I didn't use previous opposition as any indicator as to who will win. I didn't even mention Burns, let alone him v Kevin.

I think Burns and Mitchell will be a close fight and am looking forward to it, like everyone here.

So in that case had katsidis faded even more by the time he fought burns ? In which case it's even more pointless comparing the two, and if your going to use katsidis as a common opponent you have to use Carl Johansan too im afraid, one thing for sure is burns v Mitchell won't have any excuses after, and there is I certainly won't listen :salut:

Again, try reading what I posted mate. I, at no point compared Burns and Mitchell or their results against common opponents!

I was talking solely about Mitchell and his fans who trot out the excuses when talking about the Katsidis fight. Talk is cheap, until he proves he can hang with the best and beat the top guys then the excuses for him getting battered against the oz are completely irrelevant.

See, no comparison of Burns and Mitchell or their records etc...

I will humour you though. Yes, Katsidis had faded further by the time he fought Burns. Not sure what that has to do with the point I was making.

No but you mentioned an old Johansan had Mitchell in trouble in the same paragraph, so I myself pointed out the common opponent game that everyone seems to be playing in there favor, none of my posts were aimed at you, chill

You contradict yourself by using a common opponent when it suits. Your post is also irrelevant then to this subject. We are not talking about if Mitchell can mix it with the World elite, we're talking about Burns v Mitchell and it was you that raised the subject of Johannson & Katsidis knowing that they are common opponents. Do you agree that Katsidis was more 'faded' when he boxed Burns than when he boxed Mitchell?

There's no point trying to compare Ricky and Kevin! Ricky's proven world class and Kevin isn't and you'll all see this come 22nd sept.
See the problem down south is so many think your sportsmen are so better than what they actually are,I mean look at your shambolic fnational football team? Players paid a fortune week in week out and they bottle it on the big stage RING A BELL

Thats a brave post Billy, fair play to you backing your lad which is exactly what a trainer should be doing. Unfortunately I think you may be well off the mark with this one, Burns is a great fighter and has performed well up until now full credit to him. Mitchell has had one loss and you are writing him off as not in the same class which is a dangerous statement to make. For what its worth I think Mitchell could well make you regret those words on the 22nd!! Good luck to both lads both of em are top class in my opinion.

Mitchell is a very good boxfighter; he had the balls to get in with Prescott when many wouldn't have. Katsidis blew him away; really, there can be no excuse, he got beat. Burns has been beat,he's still a top fighter. The bout will be very good for British boxing, both men are class and Burns, in particular has a very pleasant media personality. I think Mitchell will win, he is a good, clean hitter; I imagine Ricky will give him hell though.

One minute Billy, your country has proved to have good football managers, a few good footballers in the past but your national team has always sucked so your not qualified to comment on England really, our players are paid fortunes because There good and we have rich clubs in London that are well managed and London is the place for European players/managers to be !
Yes our national team is shite and always will be because the south and north England players hate each other.
Anyway that's off topic to boxing, London is the place to be for heavyweights and always has been, trainers and promoters from London also rule !
Your all just jealous in Scotland and that's that !

One question to Billy please, if you didn't have Ricky and Mitchell turned up at your gym say 5 years ago, would he off been world champion by now under your guidance ?

Just a question to all you doubters (the Mitchell doubters that is) if Kevin wins will any of you be shocked ? Or just Mmmm didn't think he would of won but it didn't supprise me ?
The only reason I ask is it seems to be about 80% of you favoring burns which just doesn't add up to a 50/50 fight !

Jimmy Tibbs is a gentleman and a fantastic coach so if Kevin's going to win anything he's got a great man in his corner, however Jimmy can't do a thing if the Kevin's opponent is superior, which will be the case when they meet.

Fair point, the last time I looked forward to a domestic bust up this much was along time ago, don't get me wrong, Mitchell v Murray was good and so was bellew v cleverly and haye v chisora but this IMO is up there with eubank v benn !

Yawn yawn  Billy, calm down. Stop being so aggitated, anyone would think your on edge or nervous about something :-? .

Anyway, why are you going on about a North & South thing? Now you talking about football? WTF? Listen, you don't know where I'm from, at one point you assumed I was from Dagenham right? Appears your assuming that I am at least from the 'South'. We'll your wrong there aswell Billy boy :DDD . I'm up more north than South put it that way. So, you also seem to think that I'm backing Mitchell to beat Burns. No, to be honest, like I said I thought it a bad move if rumour was true that Burns was switching trainers and felt that Burns would actually win this fight. I also said I couldn't care less who wins but think its a good fight for British boxing. Not Scottish, not English...but 'British' boxing :TU: . Now, at the moment I'd be lying if I didn't say that a part of me would now like to see Mitchell win...Just to see your reaction after your obnoxious, childish & petty comments. Burns also has a lot of English fans who look past Nationality yet you are helping causing an a 'divide'. Your in danger of showing your true prejudice and hatred here Billy. Not wise.

Come on rob do I sound nervous NOT AT ALL,you've not got the balls to say which gym you heard your RUMOUR! Which is so far off the mark it's laughable,if anything were up there with the strongest relationships between a coach and a boxer.

You do sound nervous going by your comments though, but maybe thats just my opinion. Also, it doesn't take 'balls' to tell you where I heard the rumour. I may have disclosed that if you wasn't so rude. Thats good that you was and are one in a strong coach/fighter relationship and again I couldnt care if you was or wasn't. Just stated an opinion that it wouldn't be a good move from Burns to split with his coach this soon before a big fight. By me saying that isn't and wasn't discredting you was it? You need to sit back down in your pram and stop throwing tantrums. Now, part of me could hope that the rumours are true and Burns does switch trainers, just to see your reaction after your sulking but that would be immature of me and I wont lower to your level :TU:

Burns has overachieved with what he has got and Mitchell has underachieved on his talent and still has some great wins v hard boxers. He has the chance to put it all right fight time. It's good that Billy Nelson comes on the forums but I don't think I've ever heard or read of a trainer who weren't 100% confident in their man. Billy has done such a lot of posting about the bout (and some of it very dismissive of Mitchell); I'd imagine that Kevin hopes he's been written off by Ricky as well as Billy.

Thinking the same, really feel Billy Nelson is dismissing Mitchell which is a danger. A good coach should know not to do that at this level you'd have thought.

Under no circumstances have I or more importantly Ricky underestimated anyone in all the time we have been together,we know this will be a very hard fight that's why Ricky puts in shifts in a gym other fighters simply couldn't live with, that's partly why Ricky deserves all the success he's getting.
Boxing like many other sports are all about levels IMO Ricky is at the higher level.

I apologise if I come across dismissive of Kevin's chances,I simply believe Ricky is the better man and I'm sure he will prove it to you all
