Wasn't Froch's next fight to be announced today?

Apparently he was going to fight Yusaf Mack, but it fell through. They are meant to be announcing his next opponent tomorrow.

Interesting, would have been good to see him fighting a light heavy as I still recon he's going to try for a title there before he retires.

I don't think this one will be against a world beater as he has too many commitments coming up with the Bute rematch and possible Kesslar fight, so accepting that I would like to see him fight someone who offers a different challenge. Not that a gimme opponent is in Froch's mind set

If he is going to fight a lesser opponent than normal then I'd rather he fought Groves or DeGale, as at least they are British and well known here.

If he fought for the WBA normal title he would have to relinquish either that title or the IBF title because there is already a Super champion in Ward.

I think he deserves a bit of an easier night though, Pavlik would have been perfect as IMO he'd have ruined him and have the value of a good 'name' on his record. Pavlik would want more than he is really worth though.

Given the murderers row that Froch has gone through in the last 3-4 years, Mack is a decent mid-level ticking over kind of opponent - good enough to cause trouble if taken lightly, but not good enough to shock Froch on his A-game. Comparisons with the "gimme" opponents of the likes of Khan (Salita), Calzaghe (Pudwill, Veit II), Haye (Audley) and Burns (Cook) reflect well on Carl here.

Magee would certainly be better than Mack. However, I'd rather see DeGale or Groves given the fight, as Froch has already beaten Magee and there would be less hype for a Froch vs Magee fight.

I doubt it will be Groves, DeGale or Magee though; since there doesn't seem to be much money on the table for Froch's next opponent.

I think the good thing about Matchroom is that they have a few good boxers at all levels which bodes well for the undercard, I'lll get tickets if Gavin Rees is on the card.

DeGale has promotional problems at the moment hasn't he, it may seem like a good opportunity to him if he has confidence in his ability, would be crazy for his advisers to allow him to do it but so is fighting for the EBU in another country.

Froch is a higher rated fighter than those fighters were when they faced those opponents though.

I hold him to a higher standard than that lot and this is a disappointing fight.

Carl likes George, they get on well. But Groves is on the up in the rankings and I don't think it would be wise to fight Froch, the difference in experience in too big at the minute to be truly competitive.

In 18 months if Carl is still around and a bit older, it might be a good fight though.

I would love to see froch fight sakio bika both men are proper warriors and bika gave ward lots problems and score was a lot wider then most people gave it. Degale and groves are still to green to box froch at this point.
