Davey Moore vs Duran
Re: the towels that didn't come
Ingemar Johansson vs Eddie Machen.
How they could let Machen carry on after the 2nd knockdown, I'll never know!

Bowe - Golota 2 (although Bowe got the win in the end, he was brutalised).

Ike Williams - Beau Jack
Re: the towels that didn't come
Great call. Tough to come up with a better one than that. Jack hung up on the ropes with the viscous puncher Ike blasting away with both hands. Chilling.Counter-puncher wrote:Ike Williams - Beau Jack

I don't think the corner threw in the towel in Ruelas v. Garcia, and they obviously didn't do it soon enough.

Shannon Briggs against Vitali, should've been stopped by his corner after the 8th or 9th round. It was criminal for them to allow him to take the beating he took for those last 3 or 4 rounds when the result was a foregone conclusion and he was taking a horrible beating.

terrible, terrible corner ...Flump wrote:Davey Moore vs Duran

Ken Norton-Jerry Quarry. I never understood why Gil Clancy let Jerry take that beating. Shoulda been stopped sooner.

Pac-Marg, though I enjoyed every second of that career-ruining beating.

from what i heard pac was more merciful thanRover wrote:Pac-Marg, though I enjoyed every second of that career-ruining beating.

Re: the towels that didn't come
I understand he asked Marg if he was okay before the start of the last round. I wish he'd mounted up even more punishment.man wrote:from what i heard pac was more merciful thanRover wrote:Pac-Marg, though I enjoyed every second of that career-ruining beating.

Creed-Drago.
To think Balboa had the towel in his hand ready to throw it in for what seemed like an eternity, as if the action was slower to take place, before the fatal blow.

I guess you could blame the referee in these cases as well. anyway, Frank Tate vs Michale Olajide was about as one-sided a 15-round fight that you are going to see since Cobb-Holmes. It was aired in National TV but I have always had the feeling that I am the only one whoever saw it because I have never seen anyone else comment on it.

Re: the towels that didn't come
Some of these are more ref's blown calls than bad performances by the corner. To me Briggs-Vitali is a perfect example of a HORRIBLE corner endangering their fighter. Was just receiving a one-sided beating and clearly their guy was outclassed. Lacy-Calzaghe was another.
Of course, performances like Brewster-Klitschko I and Jackson-Castro are why corners are often reluctant to do that, but better to err on the side of caution in most cases.
