I live and train boxers, MMA fighters and other athletes in Birmingham, I was born in Hull Yorkshire, moved to Birmingham about 8 years old. Good Idea this, nice to know where your fellow posters come from.

Am working on the new Leeds arena at present and i was having the same conversation with a scaffolder! He was bemoaning the lack of shows in Leeds/Bradford. I had to go back to when i was boxing and they had shows at the irish centre and Celebanski did dinners shows at Bradford but nowt major in Leeds since Henry boxed Fidel Smith. Hopefully with the large amount of major amateur talent coming from Leeds at present can see it being a Hot bed, especially with the aforementioned arena set to be completed nxt year :TU:
Yes, the arena will help and, as you say, there are some brilliant young amateurs coming through. Jack Bateson is already number five in the world and looks like a tip for gold in Rio. Carl Johannesson beating up Ricky Burns at Leeds Town Hall live on SKY was probably the last biggish night. Did you box pro at the Irish centre? I used to go to most shows there watching Jamie Warters.
Jamie was a traveller as i recall? Got a shout to box him at Hull a couple of week after i lost to Mark Baker but had lost 3 on the spin then and as i dint fancy the capable journeyman role, retired! An old pal of mine(PR Mason) spewed it against Warters at the Irish centre tho, tko 2 i think? Think Bateson will defo be topping at the new arena/ Elland rd if he carries on progressing, especially as his old man has already dipped his toe in the promoting game, Ashfaq n Jones on the same card?

Jamie is not a traveller, mate. I was at the Mason fight, a good result considering he had just stopped Michael Gale. I think Jack needs the gold medal to get the interest really going as he is only a light-fly and looks about 11! Ashfaq looks very good too and i wouldnt be too suprised to see Anwar win the British. Bateson sr and Kevin Spratt have been at it a long time now, but seem comfortable with what they have got at Elland Road. Thought Danny Reynolds might be the breakthrough fighter for them but that was not to be.

Alright neighbour :OhYes:

I've been here around 10 years. Missed the British title fights in the Leisure Park down the road, would have been handy if they continued!!
