A bad match for Khan. Guzman is too good NOT to connect at some point. Khan's handlers seem to be in denial about his vulnerabilities.

Haven't seen Guzman fight in years but he was one of my favourite fighters. I'd be amazed if anyone would line him up for a big fight with his track record firstly - but, whilst I think his skills are superior to khan's, I just can't see him at this old age living with the speed and workrate. He certainly isn't going to be pressuring Khan and whilst I think he'll be able to time plenty of single shots, his one punch knockout days were a long time ago at a much lower weight

Maybe, but Amir seems to get wobbled by almost anything. Guzman is good, could have been great with more dedication.

Tough return fight, Guzman has seen better days but defeat again and that's the end of the road for Amir

Definitely but I just can't see Guzman finishing him off. His career has been such a shame, for years I would have back him over pacquiao

Khan points decision I imagine. Guzman was never a big hitter and is way past his sell by date at 36 and will no doubt be grossly overweight. Could be a fun fight.

Golden Boy always seem pretty clueless when it comes to making the right fight for their boxers, and this would confirm it.
Guzman would end Khan's career, it'd be a terrible comeback fight for a vunerable boxer looking to get his confidence back.

Former champion Amir Khan is planning to return on December 15th, but it won't be against Joan Guzman. As BS.com reported last week, Guzman is not interested in waiting around for Khan and the Dominican boxer is angling for a title shot at junior welterweight.

Khan himself says there is no truth to the rumors and he doesn't have any interest in the fight.

“I want someone who is a bit more credible than him. I’ve come from world title fights and he might be a little below that. We’re just getting the dates right. It will either be in England or America, December 15 is the date,” Khan told the Manchester Evening News.

After suffering back to back defeats to Lamont Peterson in December and Danny Garcia in June, Khan says he is looking for a trainer to help him establish a better defense in the ring. Not only is Khan looking for a new coach, he also wants a veteran mentor.

“I’ll be going to New York to speak to a few coaches and maybe bring in a mentor who can help me in defense. I’m mainly looking at ex-fighters, Bernard Hopkins, Oscar (De La Hoya) and maybe Shane Mosley, they all want to help out and show their support," Khan said."

If we had the defence we should have had we would be the best fighter in the world. That’s the downfall of me and Manny Pacquiao – we’re both offensively the best fighters in the world, but defensively we’re not the best."

Guzman is a 3-weight world champion, and is undefeated in 8 world title fights. Whereas Khan is 6-2.

I'd be happy with that bout if it was made. At 37-yrs old you'd favour Khan, but Guzman is tremendous when he puts his shots together and is focused.

Khan is going down the wrong road IMO. He should not expect to be given a world title shot and if he's going to work on his defence then he needs bouts to get it tip top. I think Khan should look at a McCloskey level fighter, then Kell Brook and maybe even a Prescott after, before even considering World Titles. I believe in righting your wrongs, Khan has potentially got years ahead of him and the ability is there, just needs exercising. He needs regular fights, and then knock on the doors of Peterson, Garcia etc... He needs to stop referring to himself as 'we' as well.

I'd agree. For me Guzman is way better than Khan talent wise, but I'd expect Khan to be too big for him and win on points.

Guzman drew, then beat Ali Funeka who is 6'1 and 150lb on fight night. There's only about 2 inches difference in height between Guzman and Khan.

It would be more even size wise than people think.

Anyway, it's not happening by the sound of it.

Anyone who wonders why Khan gets a bit of hate sometimes should read that quote from him...
'we would be the best fighter in the world'...?

No doubt the boy has talent, but no trainer in the world can take total responsibility for protecting his chin from every shot in every fight, and for him to compare his own offence to Manny.... Where is the evidence to support that? All I see is Khan getting blasted out of there and don't recall him stopping any remotely world class operators. His defence is less than good, offence only better than good and chin non-existent. The guy has cherry picked a route to world level on the back of one decent showing vs Maidana. I have not been impressed with anything else, he's been destroyed by less than amazing fighters and still seems to suggest that because he is not p4p #1 is someone else's fault!

He needs some humility and respect. He may have trained with Pacquio but he seems to think he is an all time great himself... How can he still have such an ego after a second humiliating KO? (btw I'm disgusted that I'm not world champ, but that's because my brother was my only spar growing up and so I haven't developed the offence... It's his fault for not improving me and I do consider myself world level....)
Khan scraped every excuse possible up for the Peterson loss, the scoring was wrong and they cheated then the scoring was right but he was on drugs, and now the Garcia loss is all Freddie Roach's fault..?!! Pathetic.
