Post by Glass Joe »

Has anyone been following Chris Eubank Jr on facebook? Yesterday he put on there he spanked Degale in sparring. Lets just say it didn't go down well......

Yeah I saw this tweet from Eubank Jnr....must say thought it was a bit classless to say that about a sparring partner and fellow professional. Bit of boxing etiquette is that you don't say that about your sparring partners.

I agree, it's a shame more boxers can't be as professional as DeGale.

Has groves started mentioning the blame thing yet, like they did with the "dark lord" thing on esb?

DeGale deserves a bit of trash talk in his direction after the way he spoke about Groves and acted in the build up. Needs to get over the Groves defeat and get his career on track. Can see him turning into a bi-annual irritating bore.

Jr is probably trying to remind the public he still exists. I'd completely forgotten about him until this. When is he out again?

Chris Eubank jr is mentally on another planet, he copies everything his dad did, then says he has his own identity, but putting two big ego's like him and Degale in the same ring, you can expect this sort of thing to happen. I remember a young boxer telling of when he sparred Chris Eubank jr, before the spar Eubank jr told him " Wait till you feel my power " I was told his power was just average, nothing special, but I guess Eubank jr thought his power was special.

as with all blowhards, re 'wait till you feel my power', I have to wonder if he's an insecure person behind it.

Eubank Jnr looks one of the most overhyped novices I've ever seen. Yes, his skill set is decent but I have to say I haven't been overly impressed with his first few fights. Can't recall who it was against but he was given a very tough time by the last or last but one guy he fought on channel 5 and his debut wasn't that impressive either. He must have caught the guy he boxed that day with about 30 big shots and never did much damage.

Agree on DeGale. He needs to develop his career his own way and stop worrying about Groves.

His last fight on channel 5 was against Curruthers in Bristol, i went to it. He wasn't too bad to be fair and Terry went at him like a steam train...took some very good shots before winning the fight. In fact it was the fight of the night.

he seems very mean and moody though, tried very hard to get a photo, handshake, etc after and while his old man was all good he never even looked twice at any of the fans. Definately seems to want to act like his dad.

As for Degale.....well.......i'm not keen.

those two together must have been fireworks to be fair.

Been saying this myself. He has nice hand speed and good combinations but he seems to really over-rate his power, his defense is atrocious, he often looks off balance and he seems to want to be his dad rather than being himself. Sadly he probably needs a trainer that will kick his dad out of his camps if he's going to go far.

When (and if) Fury or Galahad top a bill on Ch5. Not the best level of activity for a novice pro really!

Hennessy should do what Frank Maloney does with Dillian Whyte, keep him busy on other peoples shows.

Look at Eubanks record tho, you dont see fighters like that on many novices records, that certainly isnt a padded 5-0 he's on

Agree with both of the above points. To give Hennesey his due, he matched Fury competively in his first half dozen or so too.

Wouldnt be surprised if Jnr realises how much public interest was generated from Snr's domestic rivalries and fancies trying to start his own with Degale.

Both him and Degale are insecure, so they put out a false persona.

Have to agree that DeGale is an arrogant prick the way he comes across and looks like one of those that can give it but can't take it. Would be much more likeable if he wasn't such a ball bag!!!

Wasn't there some rumour that DeGale was going to Hennessy's stable? Probably just the two of them setting up publicity if it happens.

I mean, it's not like James "I call him Ugly Boy" DeGale can lecture about respect, is it?
