First of all the offers to Hopkins and Shumenov are without question, as both they and their promoters have publicly confirmed and the reasons why those fights could not be made at this time.On 4th June 2012 an email was sent to Matchroom Boxing offering Carl Froch £1 million to fight Nathan Cleverly in September 2012 for the WBO Light Heavyweight Championship.

Eddie Hearn states that Carl was IBF Super-Middleweight Champion at the time this offer was made, this is correct, otherwise why would I be offering £1 million for a fighter coming off such a comprehensive loss to Andre Ward. So how Eddie can state that we knew he wouldn’t accept it is baffling as I’m sure Carl has never earned a purse despite his high profile fights. It was a serious offer, otherwise I would not have made it.
As for Tony Bellew, I made the offer personally to him at the British Boxing Board of Control in front of a solicitor, so again this offer is without question.

Bellew’s tweeted comments state that no such offer was made, which is complete lie, as he states if it was made he would have taken it and would not be fighting Miranda this weekend.
The offer is still open, but for him to say it wasn’t made is a lie.
Eddie states that time and time again they have said they are not interested in a fight with Nathan. I stand corrected by the only time such a fight has been declined by them is in response to my offer of 4th June 2012, when I received an email reply from Eddie 30 minutes later which stated “Thanks for the email. We will be defending our IBF Super-Middleweight title in September and have no plans to move up to LH” True to their word they are defending their IBF Super-Middleweight title in October at the Nottingham Arena, rather than in front of 40,000 plus at the Millennium Stadium against Nathan Cleverly.

I question whether Carl was ever passed the offer.

Eddie states that Nathan’s fight has no relevance to anyone – does Froch v Yusaf Mack mean anything? Mack hasn’t fought at Super-Middleweight for over FIVE years and has lost to Glen Johnson whom Froch has beaten and I’m sure Froch, a true warrior, would prefer to have big fights and big paydays.

So actually I feel sorry for Carl Froch who, despite his achievements has not made the millions that his Super-Middleweight predecessors did.
Both Nathan and I would love to make this fight and if Eddie is serious about paying Froch £2 million to fight Nathan and providing Nathan gets what he is worth, then there is no reason this fight cannot happen anytime soon. It would be a blockbuster night and certainly more interesting than Carl going to Canada and handing out another one sided beating to Lucian Bute.

Out of curiosity, what is Nathan worth if Eddie were to make the fight? 100k?

Froch has bigger and better things on the horizon after Mack, who means as much as Cleverly. Without the hassle of moving up and then back down in weight too. Bute then Kessler seems to be the schedule.

Assuming Bellew comes through against Miranda I can see him being lined up by Cleverly again.
Being brutally honest, in terms of the world scene, after all he is supposed to be a world title holder, that fight wouldn't mean a great deal either.

When do we think we will see Nathan in against a top 5 man in his weight division?

He is a three time world champion at 12 stone, and he has no problem making the weight at all plus he has got bigger fish to try down at Super Middleweight as I reckon 2013 he will fight at least 2 out of the following

Lucian Bute (which is the rematch)
Mikkel Kessler (a fight he wants)
Adonis Stephenson
Andre Ward
Kelly Pavlik

As for Nathan Cleverly, come on allegedly chuck him with someone like Beibut Shulmenov, Tavoris Cloud or Jean Pascal so we can see where Cleverly is at Light-Heavy.

It's a shame what is happening to Nathan. He isn't developing as a fighter at all in my opinion. Earning a few quid though but if and when he does step up he will get battered. Calzaghe he is most certainly not.

Clev has a strap. He is the most paper of champions in the sport right now. It's actually doing him harm as a fighter. Gets grief for fighting sub par opponents for a "world champ" yet he is clearly nowhere near ready for the top dogs. Can't win. Hopefully the lads bank balance is winning though!

Ive always thought that Froch going to 175 would only happen when he was done with fighting everybody at 168 win or lose...its just another option for him.

Froch is happy at 168 where he still has another 2-3 massive fights that can get made before he could even contemplate going to 175.

Cleverly is the one who has it all to prove. He simply has to fight a better level of opposition although its very early early in his title reign.

I have said all along that the terrific run of fights Froch has had was forced upon him. He simply had no other avenue to take if he wanted to earn decent money.
Now he finally looks to have made the breakthrough. He fights a gimmee in Mack instead of Cleverly.

What has Mack done to earn a shot? Cleverly is still in the bracket of an up and coming fighter, Froch doesn't have too many fights left in him at the top, and as there both fighting crap for the little money. In my eyes this fight would've made much more sense. Froch naturally carries more weight, so i don't see that as an issue.

Look at the interest the Haye v Chisora and Burns v Mitchell has created. Surely its where the money and the interest is??
