What happened there? Miranda just quit with a whimper?!
Not the greatest performance by Bellew but he gets the stoppage.

Bomber was boxing well from what I saw as I only watched from the fifth round as I was watching Vitali K v Charr but Bomber was pickign his shots well but he was not stepping it up to get rid of Edison Miranda earlier than he did. It was a composed and mature performance but not aggressive enough for me but he got the win which is all that matters.

I agreed with the tactics early on, I think Miranda clipped him a couple of times early and shook him, so it was worthwhile to be cautious. But then from 5th round onwards I don't think Miranda was really bothered and Bellew could have stepped on him at any moment from then, but didn't.

That was such a dullfest, Miranda came for 4 rounds then just quit as soon as it got tough. Salesman Hearn just said he sees Bellew getting a world title next year, on that showing, that aint gona happen.

Tony needs to pick on someone his own size; Miranda's an old fighter and over his weight class. This is not a noteworthy victory (RE Lee Purdy), Bellew can fight and doesn't need daft matches, if he can fight world level then lets see him go :TU:

(I think he'll do well with someone who tries hard to win and puts him to it).

the fight has just been described as 'very entertaining' on the current scene forum! havent seen it yet so i dont know what to expect! is it just a case of everybody expecting fireworks so theyre saying it was that dull, or was it just like that ?

It won't be the worst fight you see but you will have seen a lot better.

To be super optimistic we still have these fights left:

Tomasz Adamek v Travis Walker
Lucas Matthyse v Ajose Olusegun
Andre Ward v Chad Dawson
Antonio DeMarco v John Molina

The Adamek, Matthyse and Demarco fights should be exciting. At least one will be a barn burner.

And regardless of how the fight goes- whether it's a slow chess match or whatever- Dawson/Ward is a great match up and worthy of ALL of our attention. C'mon Chad!

Bellew looked fairly ordinary tonight, for me. He really showed Miranda far too much respect and should've had him out of there earlier. I thought it was obvious from the 5th that Miranda didnt really fancy it but Bellew didnt seem to have the confidence to take him out... Have no idea what Bellew was thinking in the 7th either, had the guy hurt and went strutting off to the other side of the ring.

Played it safe and turned it up when needed to. Got the stoppage and weren't hurt. Done himself well.
