Matthew Macklin vs Joachim Alcine

Post by slapbangwhallop »

This one is a pretty damn good fight in my opinion and slipped under the radar somewhat.

Our man in Vegas caught up with Matthew to watch him train and afterwards talked about the Joachim Alcine fight, hooking up with Buddy McGirt, the rest of the Middleweight division & the All-Ireland hurling finals.

Macklin was simply back at his scintillating destructive best.

Puts him right back in the world title mix now.

Positioning himself miles ahead of Lee, Murray and forum faVourite Barker.

Really good win for him.

I just hope he can stay active, whenever he seems to have a good win he seems to fall out with a trainer or promoter, or be put in a shit fight.

Bags of options for him at 160, let's see him in with the top guys on a regular basis.

Moving trainers or promoters doesn't mean you've fallen out with them. Macklin is his own man and the path his career has taken over the last few years has pretty much vindicated all his decisions re. moves.

Macklin looked really good last night.

Slick combinations, eliminated any distance Alcine could've had with his arm length advantage and worked from the jab real good.

Would love to see Macklin in with Daniel Geale next.

Very impressive win for Macklin, I thought Alcine's movement and speed may cause Macklin some serious problems. Impressive win that puts him right back in line for another crack at the world title.

Macklin is a very dangerous puncher, especially early. The first knockdown punch was a scorcher; someone ought to throw a load of money in to get a catchweight bout with Alverez - that would be a shootout!
