mike jennings v eamon magee

Post by J »

i was just doing some voting on rankings and these two names popped up out of the list.

Any thoughts is jenings ready for the old warhorse Eamonn or does the old fella carry too much nouse?

thoughts? on outcome and when you think this fight woudl be viable welcomed. :TU:

Thats reminded me about those rankings :TU:

I think alot depends on what Eamonn Magee has left to offer, 3 rounds vs a shot Vester didn't give us alot for us to guess how much he has left after his injuries. If he isn't the same then I would give Jennings a fair crack, if he is the same fighter who outclassed Jimmy Vincent then I think Magee would be to knowing for Jennings, and for a load of world class Welterweights.

I would put the Eamonn who beat Jimmy Vincent in with the 2005 version of Oktay Urkal now and confidently pick the Irishman.

I'd give Jennings a year or so defending the British title & win the Lonsdale belt outright then maybe a Magee fight would be possible, Magee has faced stiffer competition than Jennings, where as Jennings even though he has had 27 fights or so still hasn't fought the calibre Magee has. But like i said earlier give jennings a year and we'll see.

Magee has been a bit quite of late, any ideas what he's up to?

If these 2 were matched i'd slightly lean towards Jennings to win a tight decision, it all depends on wether Jenning can take Magees' punches.

If I was Magee I wouldn't take this fight just yet, he needs some more rounds under his belt to shake the rust off and Jennings didn't really impress me until his last 3 or 4 fights but he's a good little mover and seems to be hitting harder. Like most people if it was pre injury I'd go for Magee but the movement of Jennings could give him problems because for obvious reasons Magee's movement won't be the best so if it happens soon i'd take Jennings on points.

look mate the bloke hads come back from a beating that would leave you crying into your pint, stop being a tit., if you met him im sure you wouldnt call him names cos he would rip your head off.

He was a former fringe world class operator at light and welter.

thats what he has done to deserve a shot.

How exactlly am I being a tit? I know he got a battering, I do read the news.

But the key word is, he is a FORMER contender and how is beating Allan Vester good enough to get him a shot? Why can't he fight an eliminator or something?

As for him being "hard", he probably is, but what do you base that on? Because he likes to wear them sunglasses with the Irish flag on? Because he has ginger hair? Because he has scars on his face? Oh, that must prove it then.

Magee at best was a decent fighter who could hit, nothing more.

What bollocks. Magee was a decent counterpuncher, not a brawler, to make out he had no boxing ability is pretty wide of the mark.

What proves how hard he was is decking Hatton and going the full 12 with him. What proves how hard he is is recovering from injuries so severe, the doctors said he would never walk properly again let alone fight.

Magee is a good fighter and like you say a good counter puncher but i think the speed ofjennings and his extra power would be too much for Eamon and with the horrific injuries he has suffered must have taken something out of him good fight though hope they can match up early next year

Jamesmacdonald,

When did I say anything about him being a brawler? All I said was he was a decent boxer who had some power. I never said he was a brawler, you idiot.

J,

Who was talking to you? I'm not being a tit, but I believe in fighting eliminators first. He was good, but not as great as some make out.

And no, I have NO respect whatsover for a thug like Magee. If he was a decent human being, maybe i'd cut him some slack, but he is a thug, just like a lot of the riff raff you see. If it weren't for boxing, he would be dead, or locked up in prison or a mental hospital, that doesn't make him a good person. You have to wonder WHY he got beat up so severely. Maybe it was random, but who knows?

if you dont have anthying positive to say then just dont post.

And for the record, I don't know the people who hang out on street corners and listen to rap music personally, but I can pretty safely assume most of them are thugs or phsycopaths. It's the same difference.

Well if you don't want a row, don't label me as an "annoying person" then. I haven't called you anything, so if you expect not to have a row, don't look for one.

And I don't want to row either, im simply retaliating, that's all. I actually don't enjoy being called things and being told to go away from discussing a sport I like.

I simply don't like Magee. I feel, despite being a good boxer, he is a nasty individual and there is a lot we don't know about, that's all.

Anyway, i'm happy to drop it, I just want to talk about boxing, that's all.

Jennings on points by the way. I feel his youth and speed is just a bit too much for an old, rusty Magee.

How do you guys see Jennings/Pryce going. Could be a real 50/50 depending on what Bradley Pryce turns up

At least I can spell.

Besides, i'm trying to drop it, only for riff raff like you to try and goad me into another row.

What a moron.

Well Pryce went a good few rounds with the big hitting Sinclair so I don't know if Jennings can stop him but I would favour him to win a decision, Pryce has been in a few hard fights in his time and as you say does tend to blow hot & cold, the hype around him(Mainly from Sky people) always seemed more than he could deliver but at the same time he's quick and has decent power himself so it could be nip & tuck for the first few rounds then I see the fresher Jennings starting to take over.
