Pieter Cronje
Pieter Cronje
Just wondering where Pete goes from here. He was a competetive heavyweight who dropped weight, no doubt for a crack at Green or Cameron. He has been in absolute wars, constantly for the last 24 months and after watching his last fight I hope he hangs them up. I have been a huge supporter of Pete's over the years and will back him no matter what he decides, but that style can only work for so long. Good luck Pete on what ever you decide.
Re: Pieter Cronje
him and his team need to be working together.
it seemed far from that the other night imo.
on ability i believe he should not lose to ammann. but he did though.
did he just not do what was asked, or did his team give him the wrong game plan?
be good to hear from the camp.
he's clearly far better than what he showed on friday and needs to be to continue.
good luck for whatevers next.

Re: Pieter Cronje
Good morning fight fans of Piter Cronj'e and others - I am Pete's manager and Im extremely sad to report that Pieter has been forced to retire permanenly due to an ongoing injury to his vision - he has been seeing double with serious depth perception so bad he was tripping over kerbs walking down the road but kept it all from us - thats because he is as courageous as he is which Im sure anyone who has ever seen him fight would agree - he tried to fight so as not to dissapoint his team - We simply did not know how bad it was - I was alerted to this some time ago but we allowed him to convince us otherwise - I should have known better - thank F#@$%$# he isnt blind . It was my responsibility to have seen it but I didnt so I apologise to him for that.
We had our suspicions but we foolishly let Pete keep telling us all including his doctor that he was OK such was his courage trying not to let on. This takes nothing away from Daniel Ammann who is a true champion but if we had known of the seriousness of his problem we would never have allowed him to fight anyone.
He is understandably devastated but he is only 29 and has a beautiful wife and equally beautiful two kids which are far more important.
He has been in some absolute wars in fact most of his fights were as hard as any you will see but he was obviously taking too many hits along the way as you guys will probably know from watching him - its hard to give it away after all the work he has done but he has agreed and i for one feel like ahit for letting him go too far so there it is those are the facts - I told him that tomorrow is the first day of the rest of his life - an old clich'e I know but he must never fight again.
I trust you guys will remember his unfailing courage and skill and if any blame is to be had Ill gladly accept it all - Pete asked me to send out a message confirming his retirement and I have now done so -

Re: Pieter Cronje
hello smoothie, thanks for clearing my mind, since the fight i couldn,t understand howPeter didn,t see some of those punches that Daniel threw,he hasn,t got the fastest hands in the book, and i thought Peter wanted to be elsewhere, but credit to him he lasted as long as he did, don,t blame yourself for not being aware of the problem,my brother fooled a lot with the same problem years ago,but he ended up being beaten byfighters that shouldn,t have beaten him, it is hard to see that right hand when your left eye is no good, keep Peter to his word,he has nothing more to prove to anyone,a great fighter back in the 40,s and 50,s Freddie Dawson had the same problem and carried on to far,and it is easy to fool people outside the ring when you have the problem, tell Peter to enjoy his family as we,ve his fights, all the best
Re: Pieter Cronje
Thanks for the update mate. Congrats Peter on a good, albeit too short, career.
I really hope you find a career within the sport. But if not, thanks for the many wars and enjoyment you gave many people.

Re: Pieter Cronje
I was puzzled by his performance, sad way for a promising career to come to an end.
All the best, Pieter.
