My question is, less than 10 weeks 'til fight night, what type of opponent will it be?

Obviously he needs to rest a bit, do the promo work etc. and train all within 10 weeks.

That's who I'd like to see anyway. Bellew seems very energetic and positive, so a bit of rest, light training and 5 or 6 week solid camp?

Would you be saying this had Green managed to finish Kessler off, as he could feasibly have done? Bellew hasn't proved he can beat anyone even on Green's level. Bellew is maaaaybe on the level of Tarvis Simms or Jaidon Codrington.

I'd be happy to see him defend his British title, assuming he hasn't vacated, but against who? The only credible option would be Travis Dickinson, or another fight with McKenzie. Dickinson's team would rather hang fire on a fight of this magnitude surely?

Dodson recently lost to McKenzie.
Fielding is a Matchroom fighter and is topping the PF bill.
McIntosh was outclassed.
He's beat McKenzie twice.

Who does that really leave as a worthwhile opponent?

There EBU option I think makes sense, if Bellew is fighting again this year. A nice title, good opponent and solidify his ranking with a good payday = Merry Christmas Bellew household, feet up, nice break, hit the gym in January!

Just read this quote in the Nottingham Post. Also said he's having a week off then back in training. Says he's happy with his performance, can learn from the odd mistake etc... Pleased he's with Matchroom, they're prepared to test fighters.

10 weeks is plenty of time for a full time boxer - it is not as if his last fight was particularly gruelling (and no cuts or injuries etc.).

Given his age and the fact that he is no longer a novice, Bellew needs to box regularly against decent opposition.

What do you suggest, boxing a journeyman who has a day job and will be on a fortnights notice ? Bellew (and the sport) don't need that.

Sounds like the EBU is the best option. That'd further increase his rankings with the WBC wouldn't it? Seeing as though he already holds an international title.
