Orlando Canizales v. Happy Lora.

Post by Rover »

Lora lost his title a few months after Orlando won his. It could be argued that Lora had the better bantam resume (Zaragoza, Davila twice, Vazquez). In fact, I think he did. Still, I think Canizales would've either gotten to him late or won a decision. Canizales tended to have problems in fights where he wasn't taking the opponent seriously, such as his close calls with Hardy and Reyes. He tore Hardy apart in the rematch and did the same with Reyes.

Good fight. The Lora of 1986 might have edged Canizales. Either way I can't see it being more than a few points between them.

If Canizales is in the HOF, Sahaprom should also be in. I think Lora's resume would warrant it (if Orlando's did). Lora's only problem was that sugar water scandal in Davila II.
