It is arguably the greatest MW rivalry in history – 2-time world MW champion Stanley Ketchel (51 career wins – 48 via stoppages) vs. one-time world MW champion Billy Papke (37 career wins – 32 via stoppages).

They fought four times (each a brutal encounter) for the world MW title – Ketchel won three and Papke once.
In the four bout series, Ketchel becomes the only boxer to ever stop Papke and Papke is the first and only (non HW) boxer to ever stop Ketchel.
With all the talk about Ward, Martinez and Chavez Jr. (among others), is everyone missing out on a MW fight series that may become the greatest of the 21st century? Possibly!
Now, who’s Ketchel? This appears rather obvious - WBA MW titlist Gennady Golovkin (24 career wins – 21 via stoppages) – they even appear to resemble each other (a little), don’t they?

Now, who’s Papke? Is it IBF MW titlist Daniel Geale (28 career wins – 15 via stoppages) or is it WBO MW titlist Dmitry Pirog (20 career wins – 15 via stoppages)? Sorry, no clear call on a resemblance.
Pirog seems to fit the Papke ‘role’ (via KO ratio) but a Geale-Pirog match should (hopefully) determine the true ‘heir apparent’.
The obvious question: After ‘Ketchel’ is done with ‘Papke’ (and this may take a while), who’s next – ‘McCallum’, ‘Toney’ or maybe ‘Leonard’ (i.e. Martinez, Chavez Jr. or Ward)???

Papke wouldn't have beaten Ketchelo if he hadn't hit him with a cheap shot.

Maybe, this time around (in the modern era) 'Papke' fairly dominates the fight series (with 'Ketchel') - in comparison to the McLarnin-Ross fight series and its modern era counterpart the Pacquiao-Marquez fight series.
Ross (Marquez's counterpart) wins two then but Pacquiao (McLarnin's counterpart) wins two now; as for the fourth Pacquiao-Marquez bout (if it takes place), maybe Marquez gets his one.....
