Not excusing it but...it's nice to see an opponent pissed off at boxing screwed, all to used to seeing guys go in there just for a payday and not to win.

I remember Matt Skelton v Bob Mirovic back when Skelton was still undefeated. Skelton was winning on points at this point but it was either a 10 or 12 rounder, and Mirovic had completely shut one of Skelton's eyes, and then in between rounds Mirovic pulled himself out and his trainer was having a massive go at him to continue in the fight but he said no and went and shook Skelton's hand seeming perfectly ok, just a bit knackered.iamasadlittleboy wrote:Not excusing it but...it's nice to see an opponent pissed off at boxing screwed, all to used to seeing guys go in there just for a payday and not to win.

Away from the push it was good to see Sprott box do well and with desire, he was up for the job and I thought he was on his way to getting the job done against another very poor fringe contender with an impressive record. Shame it ended the way it did, no excuse for what he did but the apology went some way for making up for it
Re: Micheal Sprott attacks Ref.
Sprott still gets a mention on here?

I can't blame him to be honest. It's easy to say you've got to respect the officials and all that, but there are a lot of officials who are blatantly corrupt and/or incompetent. The stoppage was terrible. Sprott was hurt when he went down, but by the time the ref had given him the 8 count his head had obviously cleared. Now if your a foreign fighter fighting in Germany you can't help but feel hard done by in that situation (to put it mildly). The only thing that surprises me is why more ref's and judges haven't been chinned with some of the shitty decisions they make.

Hahaha, the ref has gotta be a Italian Ex-footballer with a dive like that Hahaha. I know Micheal and he is a polite, respectful man.
Re: Micheal Sprott attacks Ref.
Seen worst decisions than that of the ref. I can understand Sprott's frustrations by all accounts he seemed to be winning the fight and showing ambition. However, its not the way to react - when compared to fights such as Arthur vs Quigg and Crolla vs Mathews - many people think the stoppage for those were correct..... I definately think Sprott was in more trouble than Jamie Arthur.
Stoppage isn't terrible IMO, probably a little iffy, but not terrible. I have to wonder if Sprott's reaction was due his head being somewhat scrambled. He is usually conducts himself like a true gentleman.
