Walker weighs-in
David Walker comfortably made the weight for his challenge to British light middleweight champion Jamie Moore on Friday night at the GH Carnall Leisure Centre in Manchester.
‘Kid Dynamite’ registered 10 stone 13lb 5 oz at the venue earlier this afternoon, whilst the champion came in bang on the 11 stone limit.
As he stepped off the scales Walker, who has brought around 200 fans up from London with him, said: “I feel in terrific shape, I cannot wait for tomorrow night.”
The 29-year-old from Sidcup is used to the big occasion. In 2003 he was hailed as ‘Britain’s Most Exciting Boxer’ following a series of sensational Championship performances and boxed at the Alexandra Palace in front of around 5000 supporters.
Walker has once again re-iterated his desire to bring big time boxing back to the capital.
“I am going out there to win the title so that I can bring it back to London to defend,” he said. “I want to give my supporters some more big nights at home.”
Lightweight John Murray also boxes on the Matchroom Sports promoted card. He weighed 9 stone 6 lb 10 oz ahead of his 6 round clash against Russian Azad Azizov (updated).

It really is a cracking bill - Hard to predict which fights Sky will televise.
BTW, still think Walker should try and make Welter. Never looked "cut" at Light Middle.

really looking forward to tongihts show.Some crackin fights on the bill,as always with matchroom,unlike other bills we get here in manchester..........ie MEN arena,when the whole night is geared towards Hatton.Dont get me wrong were massive Ricky fans and you couldnt wish to meet a nicer boxer,but on the whole the bills at his shows are poor,down to the promoter and match makers,but if they can get away wih it they will.Went to last matchroom show up here at Altrincham and it was one of best nights boxing we sen in ages.if your local get down there tongiht,30 quid for unreserved seating.
Mooresy to win in late stoppage,and im looking forward to seeing lujan v kotai.that should be a quality bout.

haha ..his ear looked great Manos and the guy was ROBBED . kotai even had a point deucted for repeatedly holding and the result was still a draw! lujn clarly won the fight,the guy was very very fit nd strong.Kotai was in great condition also.He had to be he did that much running in the first 8 ronds,if he wsnt running he was holding.
Good nights boxing though...Was great to see Mckeever get up off the floor to win but he doesnt look like he can take a shot if he moves up to the level he was once at. His opponent,Jim Betts would have stoppe hm if he was fitter but he ran out of gas.Well done jamie,he showed treamendous heart and i think it was the only time i ever cheered on a scouser!!
Pinder showed touches of quality,Ali nuumbembe showed some nice touches but he looked a bit anxiuos to stop the guy and was leaving himelf open,probably felt under presur to deliver in front of his large following.

As for the main event,soon as mooresy got in the ring he looked about a stone heavier than Walker.. Walker just couldnt hack the body shots.Jamies defence was tighter han last time out with Walkers shots mostly hitting the gloves of jamies high guard.the writing was on the wall at the end of the third to me..........Walker looks finished and he sufferd a heavy knockdown.

Good post mate. That is annoying if that was a robbery because I went for Lujan UD in predictions site (along with Cotto KO). This is how I saw last night's card from the TV:
Moore - Walker
Very professional performance by Jamie Moore. Looked very solid at this level and I agree with his asking to be moved up a level now. Why not?
As for Walker... taking punches is an attribute, not a skill - nothing particularly smart about it, in fact, it's a mug's game. He was even doing that thing 1 week novices do: putting his hands up and then dropping them quickly when a punch comes... that natural instinct still hasn't been drilled out of him and he's been boxing how many years, and for England... WTF. Anyway fair play to him, he came to fight I suppose. Wouldn't like to see him up at this level again to be honest, though I suppose it depends on the opponent.
Pinder - Collins
Wayne Pinder should be down at middleweight, IMO. He didn't have the strenght to outmuscle Jason Collins in the clinch, fair enough, but the jab or any of his power shots Collins mostly walked through also. He could have made up for this with a higher workrate... but obviously that in itself is going to be harder if he's too heavy. Back to middle if he's serious about the boxing, IMO.
Nuumbembe - Down
Nuumbembe looked good in there, good win, though I must say that's two opponents (I think... maybe memory's playing tricks) in a row where things got a little sticky early on. It could be because he's so eager to impress all those fans, though them willing him on to pressure Down was what tired Gavin badly by the end - I thought the stoppage was good, in fact, I was impressed with Howard Foster's stoppages last night and I like the way he tenses up and gets nervous when events enter the red zone. Johnny Nelson's comments were very interesting about Ali using his height well, very peculiar stance he's got. To be honest I haven't often seen that type of stance on pressure fighters - it's usually ones who stand in the middle of the ring and counter-punch that have that 'marching general' look about them. Dunno, seems to be working for Ali anyway because he's getting the right results, so it's all one.
Betts - McKeever
Jim Betts - long time no see! Great fight these two had. Not sure Betts really wanted to get involved in a war but he had little choice because McKeever was well up for it - probably wanted an explosive return. Not sure what McKeever's goal should be - he'd probably say undisputed world title but the best success comes with realistic goals... maybe aim for an area title and perhaps a crack at the British if all goes well? As for Betts - he didn't look banged up, but that's 4 times in a row this year he's been stopped...
