Huge historic upset loss for Saul Alvarez?

Post by kal.majeed »

D*mn – almost missed this one!

There are a number of potential scenario ‘roles’ being played in this match (from Alvarez’s point of view).

First, the three most noted “Sugar” boxers’ (Robinson, Leonard and Mosley) final bouts are all losses to much younger boxers without a stoppage loss (Joey Archer, Hector Camacho and Saul Alvarez).

Following their “Sugar” wins, Archer’s and Camacho’s next matches (title bouts) are both decision losses – Archer’s loss (a split decision) is highly controversial.

Also, Saul Alvarez turns pro at age 15, his record is now 40-0 and he is a reigning world JMW title holder; more than two decades prior, 15-year-old Darrin Van Horn turns pro and goes 39-0 before losing his first bout and his world JMW title - in a huge upset!

Again, there are multiple scenarios possibly in play – if only one of them is actually at work (although, one naturally influences the other) – this match (Alvarez-Lopez on 9/15/2012) will be a huge historic upset (easily the biggest of the year)!

Do NOT ignore this one – you may regret it (and remember folks, I do NOT gamble; hence, if anyone chooses to risk their own money, it is their own choice)…..

P.S.

Great article and boxing videos (4 total I think - each one generates after the other):

P.P.S.

To Oscar De La Hoya a.k.a. Golden Boy Promotions: Now that you know, do NOT try to ‘fix’ this one for your star – the fans will know and will never trust (or buy) another one of your ‘fights'.

I know what goes on "behind the scenes" so don't even try it - I'll make sure they know (and much more)!

I don’t make threats – just promises…..

Oops, I forgot to mention the scenario ‘roles’ for Josesito Lopez (just as Alvarez, there are multiple possibilities).

Well, it’s not a defending titlist ‘role’; hence, Don Fullmer and De La Hoya are out.

It is probably not Gianfranco Rosi as he is a former world JMW champion (although Lopez could play that ‘role’ for a single or dual performance a.k.a. a rematch).

The only remotely consistent career match to Lopez's career is the never stopped, overlooked tactician Ki-Soo Kim, who is the first to defeat world JMW champion Nino Benvenuti; the decision is split and yes, highly controversial.

Wow, there are more role playing scenarios here than in the upcoming US Presidential election – that actually favors the Romney-Ryan ticket to pull off a huge historic upset (but I will not bore you with the details)…..

UPDATE:

Oops - I bet you're glad you did not bet on Lopez (or did you); well, I warned you (on yes I did).

Will a candidate please step forward to play a present day ‘role’ of Gianfranco Rosi and take this overrated and overprotected present day “Schoolboy” a.k.a. Darrin Van Horn/Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to school?!?!

Oh, I think Mr. Cornelius “K9” Bundrage is volunteering – hmm, looks interesting - I think he deserves a shot (don’t you)?!?!

If not, possibly Floyd Mayweather Jr. or Miguel Cotto (if he wins)…..

To whom it may concern: I know that this may not be the correct section for this notation (sorry about that) but on Darrin Van Horn's (and Gianfranco Rosi's) records, in their first bout (on 7/15/1989), Rosi actually knocks down Van Horn twice - in the 12th round (as correctly noted) but also in the 1st round (check the above YouTube link - it's at about 1:27 into the video). Also, in the second Mike McCallum-James Toney bout (on 8/29/1992), McCallum is deducted one point (in the 8th round by referee Joe Cortez) for holding and hitting. Toney still would have 'won' but it would have been (SD 12) instead of (MD 12). The 'incident' occurs at about 4:56 into the YouTube video link below:
