Larry Holmes

Post by Liston »

Could anybody tell me why Larry Holmes is not ranked in the Boxrec's top 100 ? The guy fought a few months ago, so he's surely not retired as yet. Could it be that in BoxRec's ranking system, Holmes would be rocketed to first place ?

Holmes was put on the retired list after his "bout" with Butterbean and I think rightly so.

Was there an official announcement of Holmes' retirement ? It might be I missed it of course.

Otherwise, why do you put somebody as retired when he fought only five months ago, whereas fighters like Leija and Jirov, who haven't fought for over ten months are still ranked ?

Is age a determining factor in the BoxRec system, or is Holmes omitted purely by subjective reasoning ?

If a fighter does not fight for 365 days ahter his last fight he is dropped from the ratings. When de la Hoya fought Vargas for example he was unrated.

Although I am not the one who put Holmes on the retired list, I do think he announced that he would not fight again.
