Who's got the best stable of fighters in the UK

a week ago I thought it was Eddie but after Hennessey signed degale surely he is not far behind. Warren still has some great names and you cannot forget Hatton or Maloney but whats everyone else's thoughts on this.

I think its safe to say you can now. I think FW still has the best stable closely followed by Handsome Eddy.

How can you forget about Hatton op?

Ricky Hatton is now active fighter and is still the biggest name in the sport in Britain by a country mile.

Both Scott Quigg and Rendall Munroe are ahead of Frampton.

Jazza Dickens is the best prospect in the country.

Martin Murray will fight for another world title soon and, in my opinion at least, has the beating of Barker, Macklin et al.

Crolla will win another British title.

Denton Vassell has already beaten one of Matchroom's top fighters in Lee Purdy.

Gary Buckland is the current British champion, with quick fire wins over Sykes and Mathews.

Sergey Rabchenko is a future world champion.

The likes of Adam Little, Scott Jenkins, Adam Etches and Ryan Burnett are some of the best young and upcoming fighters around.

I'd like to match FW's and Matchroom's stables and work it out like that i.e Burns beats Rees, Froch beats Groves etc... 1-1 so far if you know what I mean.

FW just shades it off top of my head!

Seriously, it isn't a bad stable at all. It's up there, but the best? Afraid not. The fact that Ricky is making a comeback may reflect on the state of the things in the camp at the moment.

I never said it was the best, I was merely pointing out that original poster was wrong to say its a stable which should be forgotten about.

The same goes for Maloney who has some great fighters (Price, Rose, Anwar, Miles etc).

If your looking at prospects and champions within the next 18 months then VIP is right up there with them. Will have 3 British champions in the next 4 weeks and would not swop my prospects for any of the other stables mentioned.

Is ok having a big stable but into days world and with less tv dates out there you can not work them all we at Maloney's have cut back on our stable to work with 4 to 5 fighters who we think can make it and then work with other managers for our allegedly shows. We are all so thinking of starting to do none tv shows to build our fighters records and see what's out there. The face of British Boxing has changed and in todays world of boxing you have to make justments if we want to keep boxing in the public eye.Do you the fan's agree or not

Has been interesting to see who people have voted for, I knew at the start that most of you would vote for matchroom but why? after hennessey signed degale surely he must be up there with both eddie and fw.

hennessey stable now includes degale, fury, eubank jr and kid galahad. surely hennessey has now built a stable that can match any other promoter in the uk. plus fw, maloney and hattons all have great fighters, some even better than eddies.

looking at them they only have froch, kell, frampton, rees and barker but he is always injured and will he comeback, time will tell but from what i have heard it might not be good news.

is it the way eddie has gone about his business that has changed peoples minds not his stable, personally i quite like the way he has done it, he's made a few mistakes but we all do. So i'm really interested in hearing peoples views on why matchroom have the best stable over the rest.

Frank I totally agree with your post and understand where your coming from boxing has changed over the years with tv etc and i think you are taking the right approach, i hope it works out for you.

Agreed. The likes of Carl Greaves, Steve Wood, Errol Johnson & Paul Rowson put a lot of shows on and it looks like they can make it pay and showcase their respective stables talent too. It's hard to keep your boxers mainstream if they arent being shown to the wider audience VIA TV. Without small hall shows the game would be in real trouble though as prospects wouldn't gain the necessary experience and earn their stripes. At the end of the day, cream usually rises to the top so if you manage to bag a star from the beginning people will naturally want to follow him and Television exposure usually follows.

Froch, Brook, Rees, Barker, Bellew, Frampton, McCloskey, Ochieng, Anderson, O'Kane, Yafai, Weaver, Ward, Cardle, Ryder, Taylor, Camacho, Fielding. And they will add few more this week has to be Matchroom IMO

You name all these fighters with promoters but please tell me how they are going to keep them working and learning there trade. Is going to take longer to get them to the top or they get put in to early and career over to a point. One of the UK's best even promoter Micky Duff never move with the times when satellite tv came to air. He had a great team of boxers but still when out of the business because he never moved from the bbc to satellite and when he saw what was happening it was to late. this could happen to a few other out there today if they do not move or make changes to how they promote or move fighters into days even changing market place.

Good thread this. I've voted Matchroom just. Really liked the way Eddie has done things since he has taken it over especially with Kell Brook who IMO should be World Champ by now if it wasn't for Warren’s matchmaking and 6-8 spells out of the ring. Hennessey signing Degale is a major coup as I still think he has the abilty to win a world title by the end of next year. I'm intrigued to see what Hatton will do with his promotions business over the next few months. It’s good that there is more competition among promoters to improve card quality and gives more shows on for fans. The one major downside is it can stop a lot of top domestic fights being made. To name a few.

Tyson Fury v David Price
Murray, Barker or Macklin fighting each other
Quigg/Munroe v Frampton
Froch v Cleverly ( admit it this would be fun while it lasted)

I know it’s worse in America remember a thread comparing Top Rank and Goldenboy to how WWF and WCW were back in the day lol.
