Andre Ward's last loss...
http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-s ... 8943_n.jpg
(EDITED UPDATE: I did some further investigating and apparently Andre's last loss was AFTER this one...it was to Jesus Gonzalez, not Ravish...Ravish must have been the second to last one...)
(NOT SURE HOW TO PUT THAT PHOTO SO U CAN SEE IT INSTANTLY)
February 7, 1998 at Lenexa, Kansas, National Silver Gloves...132 pounds Intermediate JO to John Revish (it's off to the left, about halfway down on the page)....notice that Chad Dawson lost in the finals the same day, at 132 senior JO to Julio Perez (I was in his corner)...other kids who fought on this day include Nonito Donaire, Raushee Warren, Gary Russel (Warren and Russel are on the back side of this paper), Jason Litzau, Timothy Bradley and Curtis Stevens...my boxer Sammy Vega, pictured on the bottom right, won the national title at 106 senior JO...

Scully youre the man. Most casual boxing fans don't realize how amazing it is that he hasnt lost since he was 12; through all of the National tournaments, through the Olympics and all the way through the pros thus far. Most really good amatuers have off days. Ive seen guys who have been ranked #1 for 3-4 years in a row lose at home in a local show because they have an off day. Andre just knows how to win.

Re: Andre Ward's last loss...
...about Ward's last loss as an amateur...I have it in 1998 against John Revish...someone just messaged me and said they always heard it was Jesus Gonzalez. From my understanding, Jesus beat Andre in 1996, so that would put Revish as the last. I'm going to check into this to be 1000 pct. sure..if there is any change I will update it. Unless YOU know for sure and can tell me????
Yea, Tommy, EXACTLY...most good amateurs, most amateurs period, have SEVERAL losses early on in their amateur careers...most amateurs, after 20 fights, have AT LEAST 2 or 3 losses and thats still a GREAT record for an amateur boxer. So when you see guys like Breland go 110-1????? That's almost IMPOSSIBLE and its special especially at that level. These guys are fighting future top contenders and world champions on a VERY regular basis...

Re: Andre Ward's last loss...
UPDATE: Apparently Virgil Hunter says Jesus Gonzalez was the last one to beat Andre Ward as an amateur....so Ill assume that Revish was the second to last ....sorry for the mistake...

My favorite story of amateur boxing dominance besides Andre Ward is that of our own Tommy Connors. He not only walked through the Olympic Trials with ease but he stopped every single opponent along the way. How do you stop the 7 best guys in the country all in a row? The guy was an animal.

Tommy Connors from South Boston. I'm not sure what year, but he is a little on the older side. He didnt get to end up going to the Olympics because we boycotted that year.ICEMAN JOHN SCULLY wrote:Who is that Tommy? What year???

Re: Andre Ward's last loss...
well i was there witnessed it with my own eyes jesus gonzales in fact beat andre ward and berto & many others .. IF jesus gonzales would have went to olympics like he was chosen to do so he would have won gold hands down warf couldn't stand a chance against gonzales ... Bob arum just seen a kid that had nothing & was living on worst side of phoenix AZ and gave gonzales high hopes and threw him 275,000 dollar signing bonus then fucked him int he end .... Gonzales is a monster and always will be his upcoming fight comin soon... EL Martillo is 1 of the best and has beat handfull of champions he deserves that spot to & soon will get it And for the record on ESPN andre ward was asked who was lst to beat u he clearlh said jesus gonzales ....... JESUS BODIED WARD JS I WAS THERE
