who wins between mcneil who has stepped in at short notice and ossie duran,this will be a a test for mcneil who was a top amateur and may bring him up alongside the amateurs he fought who are now top class pros

McNeil's certainly not a pussy if, as you say, he's taking this fight on short notice. Despite a good display over 10 v Taz Jones, given the lack of pro experience and notice for this, I can only say good luck to him

If Sinclair is out then ITV must be real pissed. F$£K ALL has gone right for them since they started showing boxing again.

Must admit the Sky, Matchroom show on Friday is a belter, There is no competition on which channel to watch.

Anyone know anymore about the Sinclair pull out?

Are either of these guys promoted by allegedly. I didn't think they were? I'm not sure he will showcase the talents of two boxers he doesn't promoted as the headline of a televised show.

colin mcneil is promoted by allegedly, he was a top class amateur unbeaten in britain for ten years,has beaten some good pros in his amateur career,mihal kotei,christian bladt,francis barret,his regular sparring partners for the last ten years were scott dixon,joe townsley,the murphy brothers lawrence and gerrad, the last time anyone [other than internationals] beat mcneil either amateur or pro was in 1994,and he has rapidly made the transition to pro,look out for this fight being a corker,and the emergence of a new force in british boxing,
in boxing ability he is miles ahead of anyone i have seen in the pro ranks it remains to be seen if he has still retained his speed and power,but he would have to have went back a lot for the likes of ossie duran to beat him

he has been helping kevin anderson prepare for his commonwealth bid and in the last few weeks they have sparred 130 rounds,of hard,hard sparring and both are in tip top condition

Sinclair withdrew over the weekend claiming he wasn't 'on form' and couldn't "find the edge needed" to take the title from Duran.

Watched the first two rounds of this and saw the way it was going, so turned over to Sky. Flicked back a few times and then watched the last round or two. No surprises really, good effort from McNeil on short notice and I'd say he deserves another, proper, crack at this level sometime in the future. You can see how he excelled as an amateur - constant movement, occasional dipping in with eye-catching head/body punches, good lateral movement: really smooth going backwards at times. However, at his age, I doubt he's going to get the speed to really develop proper knockout power, though he could certainly out-slick a fair few handy types and test them in the later rounds.

As for Duran - good fitness, good dig, good composure throughout - even when it looked like it was going to become a long night he didn't get too frustrated - good win for him, the type that sets him up for a good performance in the next 6 months.

Good effort by McNeil after so few fights and at such short notice. You can see why he was such a succssesfull amateur. I think despite losing against Duran his stock will have risen and he will have gained in experience and confidence and can comeback and be in the domestic mix at welterweight. Although at his age as with his apparent lack of power I just can't see him competing at anywhere near World level.

McNeil vs Hare anyone?

Agree with you on that one, unfortunatly McNeil is always going to fall at a higher level because of his lack of power, would probaly be the same if he fought Hare.

It was a good effort by him last night though, can't fault his desire or heart.

And what's with the ITV Boxing Scheduel? They either put it up against Football on the BBC or another fight bill on SKY. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Absolutly, why have the boxing on at 10pm if its going to be on ITV2, there is no need for it to be on that late, most pubs would have the Sky match on last night

As someone mentioned (apologies for forgetting who it was) A Moore - Duran rematch makes a lot of sense right now.

Mitchell needs to step it up in a big way. I don't doubt his talent, but he's not being done any favours. John Murray is looking shit-hot, both at home and abroad, whilst Mitchell is still taking on no-hopers. I don't claim to be a huge fan of Kevin, although I do think he's been somewhat harshly treated, and I recognise that he's far, far too good for some of the criticism he's been given these last few years. Either way, Murray vs. Mitchell would be an absolute classic, domestically. Two guys with real ability. I'd like to see them fighting it out before too long. They're both guy's with real talent for the fight game.
