Ref McGuigans comment "Daniel Day Lewis" could have been a boxer"....of course some of us wont find such a statement astonishing.

Theres probably 1 or 2 bum posters on here who might say something along the lines of "Lewis was a passionate thespian he put his heart and soul into a role so could have done it......

Bums like that have never stepped in a ring before let alone a pro one, never been smacked in the face in front of a baying crowd....

Trust me McGuigan has given this spiel so many times....its hard to imagine Flintoff (who im assuming will be a HW) coming in and being able to take a HW punch and not collapse the moment he is hit by someone with a heartbeat.

The man is an attention seeker and perhaps he fears his star is waning but what if he gets his face disfigured what will happen to his Morrisons gig.

Personally, I'd have thought Flintoff should be aiming for 200lbs. He's a big lad but its would be a bit of a leap to be tackling 250 pounders when you've been a 15 stone cricketer.

I considered whether he should go down the cruiser route, but those guys are generally faster, more mobile and a lot of them could punch to the same effect as a mediocre heavy.

Plus Flintoff to insult Latvia could ask that they do a similar thing to what Benn did to Eubank in their second fight. Remember when Benn had Eubank's ring entrance music stopped. Well I was thinking when they do the Latvian national anthem they could do that song 'I get no kick from Champagne' but dub the word Ukraine in instead of Champagne. The Latvian would become so riled he would end up fighting like an idiot.

What if he has a great chin?

A chin is more or less something ur born with but a the same time u have to know what kind of a chin youve got you have to have had some kind of boxing grounding, and have taken punches over time as you have gone up the levels over time in order to a) get used to being hit b) maximise your ability to take a shot etc. But a chin isnt something someone who has never boxed, never developed or worked at it are able to claim " I might have a great chin".....the face has to have been hit consistently over time to develop a strong hide..if you like.. otherwise if Flintoff isnt taking shots, if he does get hit hard once he will probably be more than flustered....the pro game is not a joke...and its not like Flintoff is some great athlete like a Mundine or even a Curtis......6 months of training wont be enough for Flintoff to maximise his chin to be able to take shots from a pro HW even if it is a latvian toilet inspector part time pro he is fighting.
