Today and tomorrow's marathon of fights are the same fights that ESPN Classic show about 50 times a year each.

Although they have been breaking out some fights that are not shown much at all, but for every new old fight that they show, they show ten, or twenty of the same ole' thing. It's actually pretty selfish...ESPN has the largest fight library in the world, enough fights to show a different fight every night for probably around ten years, yet we see the same thing over and over.

I've been meaning to do this for a while but keep forgetting, but I think I'll do it right now and keep the word file where I can see it each week. I'm going to keep a list of all the fights that classic shows during the next 365 days and actually see how many times that they show all the usual Ali, Tyson, Foreman and Frazier fights that they rerun over and over.

Its crazy that they keep showing the same stuff. They probably just think many people won't watch fights between fighters they've never heard about. But in doing this they are missing a big opportunity to show people the greats of the past. They must have tons of fights from the 50s... Gavilan was on tv about 20 times I believe but I think only about 2 or 3 of his 50s fights have been reshown. Have they ever reshown the Ray Robinson vs Tiger Jones bout?. Jones was on TV countless times too during the 50s.

They have everything...100s of fights from the 50s, probably 1000s. They bought out Bill Cayton's collection, who's was Jim Jacobs before he died and Jacobs had probably about every old fight that there is, domestic and foreign and that's no exaggeration...so ESPN has so much that it nothing but selhishness. I could understand if they sstarted selling DVD's from the collection then people could acquire all the good fights, but they are just sitting on all that they have and sharing it with no one. Klompton could give you a lot more information about ESPN's collection than I can, which if you read this I'd like to hear from you on ESPN's collection.

Yeh it doesn't make sense really what they are doing with all those fights. I've heard most of them are all locked up in a vault somewhere and may never see the light of day again. Maybe they are just hanging onto them for their value (they must be collectively worth a fortune) and are planning to sell them in the future?. If theyre planning this then they probably think that the fights would lose value if broadcast because certain people are going to tape/dvd them. So thats why they are just showing the fights mainly that people have mostly got already.
I think the 50s to early 60s mustve been a peak time for boxing on tv there are probably 1000s of fights from that era. Jacobs used to fly halfway round the world sometimes to pick up one rare fight I read.
I'd sure like to do that if I had the money.
Do you have many old fights?....

ok i thought i might bring some attention to this. i was watching the marciano-walcott film today on ESPN and in the 6th round marciano gave walcott a beating and walcott came back to his corner. and i noticed something, felix boccicgio was pretending like he was talkingf to walcott and looking around and then i saw him wiping walcotts gloves. then the start of the 7th, and walcott lands a couple jabs and i see marciano blink his eyes like he cant see. as we all know, marciano for 3 rounds was blinded by a subtstance. and marciano always said it was by walcotts handlers. i didnt believe it till i just saw it. the 7th round was the round he was blind. and marciano dominated the 6th and then i see felix boccicihiio seems like he was doing foul play in between 6th and 7th rounds rubbing stuff on walcotts gloves.

im suprised no ones noticed it. but then again I COULD BE IMAGINING things. so i suggest taking another look in between 6th and 7th rounds. im gonna go pull out my tape and see if i saw what i thought i saw.

- i used to think it was marcianos handlers that did it, but maybe i could be wrong. boccicchio that sly mother.
