Hagler vs Sugar Ray Robinson (middleweight)
How do you see this one going?
Re: Hagler vs Sugar Ray Robinson (middleweight)
Robinson W15 (UD) something like 9 rounds to 6. Robinson had too much all around game, and would beat Hagler more often than not, Hagler on his best night could get it done, but if they fought 5 or 6 times, Sugar Ray would win more often than not. Very difficult style match for Hagler I think.
Re: Hagler vs Sugar Ray Robinson (middleweight)
Haggler wins the first fight, Robinson wins the rematch and rubber.
Re: Hagler vs Sugar Ray Robinson (middleweight)
Hagler was the second best MW of all time......Robinson was the best Welter of all time and likely top five MW.
Hagler wins this IMHO. But not easily.

About the same as Leonard/Hagler
Re: Hagler vs Sugar Ray Robinson (middleweight)
Hagler's power would definitely be troublesome. But Robinsons oozes class.
I'm going with: Sugar Ray by Unanimous Decision.

Robinson wins easy.

Well, if based on the Leonard scenario, I suppose that's the easiest conclusion to reach. I'm just not sure that fight represents Marvin's potential. But it's not an unreasonable assumption.

Second to Harry Greb?
Re: Hagler vs Sugar Ray Robinson (middleweight)
Tomasino, I've made this nuanced point before. I have trouble rating a fighter I've never seen fight. So though Greb may hold the title, I can't verify his work. So no....I'm referring to Monzon based on what my eyes have seen. The documentation makes a good case for Greb being top five, if not best of all time. But based purely on my personal foibles on this I don't rate him.
I've heard Gronk from 2000BC may have been the best, or Neanderthal Ned, but this is based purely on the stone carvings. So I can't rate them either.

I like Hagler 6 or 7 out of 10. I'm not sure why anyone would be so sure about Robinson in a rematch, Marvin was an absolute monster in rematches. His Boxing intelligence is greatly undervalued.
