Christ, he's fought two this year, and he's only had two fights. That's 100% old men! And Maddalone must be 100 in ring years. I remember Al Cole beating the shit out of him 10 years ago on the Klit/Mercer undercard, and Holyfield shredding him in three at least five years ago, among his many other beatdowns.

This would be a strange choice of opponent if you ask me. It would be hard to imagine Fury scoring a stoppage win, and the last thing you want is Fast Eddie landing a moral victory for the little heavyweights by going the distance comfortably.

I don't see what it would achieve.

But if he has aspirations of fighting Wladimir Klitchsko it is a good barometer. Wladimir needed 12 rounds to catch and then nail Chambers with 5 seconds of the fight left to get the knockout so I could see it happening down the line at some point.

No, he's fought ONE in his whole career. I didn't particularly appreciate the Rogan match, but it's not like Fury has based his career on fighting 40+ opponents.

Oh, come on. Zack Page, Rogan and Maddalone. 39, 40, whatever. Stop hiding behind semantics. He fights infrequently and when he does it is against shit opponents, almost all of whom are fat or glass jawed or old or a combination of all three.

Ok, he is not a bum but he is really just very average.

HE comes out in the first round in stance, punches with a bit of authority, looks moderately like he can box then within another round he is huffing and puffing, swinging and swiping, cuffing the punches and he loses his shape. His stance goes to crap and he looks totally ragged.

That people have any hopes invested in him is quite depressing. If he is the future of the division then boxing surely is dying

He may not be all that good, but unfortunatly or fortunatly depending on your view point he's in an incredibly weak division at the moment. Mick Henessey and Channel 5 obviously see him as someone who can get somewhere in the divsion and will make him and them some decent money - hence the investment.

It's not Fury's fault that despite being barely past novice professional standard he's being talked about by Wlad as a potential opponent. It's just that more or less everyone else apart from the Klits, Haye and possibly Povetkin are of the same standard. I personally enjoy his fights and if he makes good money for himself, good luck to him.

Not a fan of Tyson Fury, I think he's not that good. However, I just worry that if he gets found out Channel 5 might cool their interest in boxing. Sure they've got Eubank, Galahad and now DeGale but Tyson seems to be their 'marquee' fighter.

As for Fast Eddie, he was asked by Bunce on the Boxing Hour if there was any truth in this. He didn't completely dismiss it but he didn't say that it was happening either.

Fury puts me in mind of the Gorgeous Gael of old, Jack Doyle. The Cobh Colossus may have had better skills though than your lad Fury. A string of wins that whipped up the fans back during the Depression then a cold dose of reality.
