The thread is for the best boxer, not necessarily the one with the most belts and the most high profile.
It's tough for us Sheffield lads - and we haven't gone back beyond the eighties ! :TU:

I'd have thought Jason Rowland was the best from Canning Town/Custom House, followed by Mark Kaylor; though I can appreciate that we sadly didn't get to see how good Stone would have become. Best amateur from that area was Shaun Gray.

Worksop, Notts: Jim Wright - well on my street anyway (hope the neighbours don't read this, that 13 year old kid at number 6 looks a bit handy!)

Finsbury Park, London,

London has lots but specifically Finsbury Park, its a bit limited. We can claim Kate Beckinsdale, though.

I suppose Hackney or Ilford would be the next best, so it would have to be Michael Watson or Nigel Benn.

A certain Bob Fitzsimmons. World Heavyweight Champion, World Lightheavyweight Champion, World Middleweight Champion.

My friend owns the thatched cottage that he was born in. Has a blue heritage thing outside to show he was born there. My mates bedroom is believed to be the room that Ruby Rob was born in :OhYes:

I am from Halifax which is a bit of a ghost town as far as boxing goes. We have a few decent pros at the moment but the best is probably Liam Walsh. Its a pity really because if we did get a decent boxer the fans would really turn out for him.

I'm not sure how old you are dhb-raging bull; at the minute he is the very best active boxer but Irwin and Woodcock were excellent fighters and had some great wins, Irwin was a fantastic amateur as well, (he turned the Christmas lights on outside the Mansion House one year). (Woodcock was before my time and Irwin a contempary, David 'Diamond' Jules and Kasi Kaihao had some good wins as well as pros).

As a Barnsley lad I'll have to say Josh Wale. Hopefully he can beat Stuey Hall and pick up the vacant Commonwealth title.
