The worst racism I have ever witnessed was at a Khan fight and it wasn't the "40 something meat head shaven blah blah" as you so eloquently put it that were dishing it out.
It was Khan's fans - aimed vociferously at the perfectly calm white people around them - including ladies and youngsters.
Who's talking about slaves anyway, Mr Historian? Why don't you tell us all about the history of the slave trade in Islamic nations long after it was outlawed in the 'West'?

Brits love an underdog/loser ala tim henman
The Brits loving a loser is a complete myth. Henman was loved? Only by british tennis fans who would support anyone flying their flag seeing as they are so success starved! Henman was ridiculed by the rest of the nation!
Look at the modern day sporting hero's...Wiggins, Hoy, Ennis, Farah are just four from this Summer. No plucky losers or underdogs there.
Brits love a character and a good story. They also love a winner

Cocky, flash, party animal, womaniser, winner = Possibly the most popular sportsman this country ever produced.

I have been to a lot of Amir Khan shows and have seen and heard a lot of racism, and I know what colour performs it, too be honest the only thing I have seen from the asians is them responding to paki chants and trying to pull the white girls which upset the white men around them, there is good and bad in every nationality, but racism is reserved mostly for the majority.mugabi wrote:oooh touched a nerve did I? Instead of stirring the pot without any evidence why dont you tell us a little more about this "worst case of racism in 35 years of boxing you saw with Khan fans being racist"?...event, place???.....or did it only take place in the figment of your imagination? Lets see if anyone else can corroborate it.
Gee it must have been something really bad to surpass Hagler-Minter in your mind!
Ive been to countless boxing and MMA events. The boxing ones were mostly amateur and i have yet to witness any racism in the amateur code crowds or MMA crowds. I have heard black boxers being abused, and women abused during pro shows. But that is a small minority of drunken idiots who hate on anyone imo.

America was built on the murder and destruction of the red Indians and the slavery of Africans, Britain was built on the slavery of the africans, child labour, a class system and the occupation, rape, murder( by the millions ) and stealing of the resources of many of the countries on the planet. Some people make me laugh on this forum how they use comments like the above to justify in some way how their relatives where once predators of the world.

As someone said earlier in the post. Khan was loved at the Olympics, by the UK... Not just minority groups. Opinions have changed purely because Khan rubs people up the wrong way.
Naz got abuse because he thrived on it, it was a character he created for himself... I didn't like Naz at the time.. not because of his skin colour. Because he was a cocky get, but funny with it.. and now I respect him.He was merely a pantomime villain. But Khan is just a fool.
I don't like Khan for the same reason everyone else has stated... now are you saying I am lying to cover up the fact I am racist?
I deal with diversity everyday in my job and am by no means naive.
Really I think your view of racism is very outdated, you need to get out of that crappy pub and out in the real world mate.

By that reckoning you probably think Ratko Mladic was justified in his genocide against muslims in Bosnia because after all he's only doing what the muslims ancestors did to his ancestors

I agree, at least they did not end up brawling, like a pair of kids, Khan will never win over his haters, even if he became pound for pound champion, he knows that, thats why he is defensive sometimes, but I bet he does not give a shit anymore, he is making his money and love him or hate him, they will come.Kilburn wrote:It seems to me that some people make their minds up about an Amir Khan studio performance before the show has even aired.
I would never argue that Khan hasn't said some daft things over the years, but there was nowt wrong with this latest appearance whatsoever.

Having watched the video, I have to retract my comment. Khan still overrates himself, but he was perfectly fine and acceptable in the interview. Kell Brook isn't very comfortable speaking on camera yet, but they were okay.
The strap line for Audley irked me. 'British & Commonwealth challenger'? They know full well he was a European heavyweight champion, why couldn't they credit him as such? Seemed deliberately cruel and disrespectful.

Go back and read your history, when the muslims ruled most of the planet they treated the people they conquered fairly, as an example when they ruled spain, other faiths were allowed co-exist within the muslim structure, when the christians took it back they murdered every person who would not denounce Islam.
yes slavery happened in africa and on the arab peninsula, as well as the rest of the world, in britain the slaved their own people, prisoners and lower class were forced row on the ships traveling the globe, lower class were used as servants and their children taken for slave labour and as chimney sweeps, on a mass scale nobody does it like the white race and England did more damage to the world then any other nation. two wrongs don't make a right, neither does large scale and smaller scale match.

Now I wonder how you would react if you were called similar things by someone you've never met before ? You know the stereo typical stuff.

Maybe, maybe not. The average man in the street not done a great deal of harm to anyone though; we may have had greedy and brutal rulers and systems. The Indian continent weren't always such a shining example of love, harmony, understanding and charity as it is today and I think I'd feel like I'd had a bit of a bum deal if I an were born an untouchable in one of the mega slums.safeerah wrote:Bango

Every country is guilty at some time in history as having done the dirty on another country or to other races, or to its own people.
