Who do people want him to face? King Kong?
Look at the guys Coyne has beaten - Craig, Vecsei and Fogle!! He even KO`d Johnny Corn in the first round. No mean effort.
This is a tough one for Nathan, however with preparation, God`s will and a sprinkling of luck, I reckon he might get through this one with a first round stoppage.
Nathan Cleverly to fight Ryan Coyne next.

The factors to consider here are, can Clev sell enough tickets to make the show profitable??
And are there any decent venues left in Wales where FW does not have an outstanding debt?

Very average opponent. So much for B-Hop and Shumenov and the like.

Good career move, he needs American exposure to get the big fights. It may seem silly now, but I see where they're going.
Re: Nathan Cleverly to fight Ryan Coyne next.
Not a factor now he's on the undercard of Mares/Moreno.Coco wrote:The factors to consider here are, can Clev sell enough tickets to make the show profitable??

I think Coco was intimating they were contributing factors as to why he's now on that card.orbtastic wrote:Not a factor now he's on the undercard of Mares/Moreno.Coco wrote:The factors to consider here are, can Clev sell enough tickets to make the show profitable??

Ah, well possibly. It makes better sense. Don't have to go through the pain of refunds this way, I guess.
Re: Nathan Cleverly to fight Ryan Coyne next.
I saw Ryan Coyne sitting ringside at a show in Limerick once. Think it was maybe Casey-Hyland. So at least we know he exists.
That's my contribution

I don't know whether to be pleased that this joke of a fight is in doubt or if sad for Nathan as he really isn't getting a fair crack.twenty six wrote:Hope no one's booked flights.

Indeed. Coyne said the following:twenty six wrote:Hope no one's booked flights.

"I am sorry to toss a monkey wrench in things, but my fight with Nathan Cleverly is not going to happen. This is purely because of the spite of an evil zealot named Don King"

That is an outrage if true. In all my years of being a boxing fan I have never known a fight fall through due to promotional issues! The Law wrote:Indeed. Coyne said the following:twenty six wrote:Hope no one's booked flights.

Surely cleverly can't be happy with the last year of his career. He seems a good guy and deserves better.
Bunny is really starting to lose his reputation in Wales.

I'm sure nobodies disappointed that this mis-match has fallen through. At least we got this post out of it though.forcefraser wrote:Listen, Coyne is an unbeaten southpaw who has beaten Dante Craig for christ`s sake!!!!!!

Poor Clev.
They cancel his home fight, to go on some very mediocre American card against a journeyman to get a little 'exposure' and it falls through.
Let's hope GBP get someone else quick.
But after 2012, his team have really got deliver. Karpency and a bunch of press releases is embarrassing for an unbeaten light heavyweight champion.
Never mind slagging of Hearn, Hopkins and making excuses all the time, they need to do their job by him and bring a decent name to Wales.
But their problem is Clev's profile has gone very cold - and Hopkins would ask for a lot of money, and it's not a big fight anymore and it might bomb. So I think they won't take the risk and will pack him off against Shumenov or similar next.

Re: Nathan Cleverly to fight Ryan Coyne next.
I got an incredibly angry press release through from Coyne's people yesterday, accusing King of all sorts. I asked DKP for comment but none has been received. The Law wrote:Indeed. Coyne said the following:twenty six wrote:Hope no one's booked flights.

I'd love to run it but he's very litigious is old Don.
Good luck to Coyne

I really like the phrase 'evil zealot', if that's a taster I can see why the rest can't be aired.....dondada wrote:I got an incredibly angry press release through from Coyne's people yesterday, accusing King of all sorts. Craigy.
"I'm sure nobodies disappointed this mis match has fallen through"
I can think of a few that are - particularly Nathan Cleverly.
Benny.
I hope you were taking the piss about Bellew.
There's more chance of Syria joining the EU than that fight ever happening now.
