Found this interesting article on the Daily Mail website today:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing ... l?ITO=1490

Some interesting points:

"Hatton split from Warren in less than harmonious circumstances after winning his first world title, one fascinating question is whether he too might bury the hatchet. Reluctant though he may be, that could be more acceptable to him than getting back into bed with Sky."

"There are suggestions that Sky – given their commitments to Hearn - urged Team Hatton to join with their rivals in a co-promotion, thereby aggravating the Hitman still further."

"Warren is naturally keen to follow up his Haye-Chisora bonanza with a Hitman spectacular and is likely to make the most substantial domestic offer."

"The mould could be broken wide open for Hatton if Showtime, believed to have made the largest US bid for the fight thus far, were to beam their signal into the UK via trans-Atlantic satellite. A deal of convenience with ESPN would give them access to that network’s existing broadcast channel here."

I'm hearing Primetime.

Their business model is a straight-up profit share, not a bid/fee - and they often tie in channel 5 to broadcast undercards beforehand.

hatton and FW have looked to be on relatively good terms whenever ive seen them sitting ringside, maloney and fw were always at each others throats but he's taken price to bocsnation.

Daft notion but how come eurosport dont try and rope in one of these big events most people have euro sport on their telly.

Suprised if it will be on Showtime, surely GBP will want a piece of the action and showcase it on HBO.

Although great if Jimmy Lennon Jnr does the announcements.

Yeah Ricky did say his comeback isn't about money however he did also state during the summer months he would strive to secure a TV deal for his stable of fighters. Who really can offer Ricky guaranteed dates for both him and his fighters going forward? For me it's got to be allegedly.

Remember back in 2007 Setanta Sports agreed a deal with Hatton for his fight against Castillo. Hatton was reportedly paid £1 million for the fight by Setanta and was 100% behind selling the channel. In the week leading up to the fight Ricky was rarely seen not wearing either a Setanta Sports hat or Setanta Sports t-shirt. That was after 42 fights exclusively on SKY.

Richard Brooke, the Chairman of allegedly was the Director of corporate development at Setanta when the deal for Hatton and Castillo was agreed. Simon Green, the CEO of allegedly was also at Setanta at the time as their head of UK channels. These 2 will fully understand how many new viewers Hatton could pull in, and how much it would raise the profile of allegedly. I wouldn't be surprised if they where involved somehow back in 2007 bringing Hatton to Setanta.

When it comes down to business Hatton will make a decision based on what is right for him and his stable in the long term. I think allegedly will go all out to get his return. Ricky was stabbed in the back by SKY which clearly hurt him when reading recent interviews. Primetime would be alright for one or two shows but will they still be interested once Hatton hangs the gloves up after a couple of fights?

I'm not sure BNation is an outlet for other promoters to gain more domestic dates. By Frank Maloney's admission he isn't getting as many dates as he anticipated so where does that leave Hatton? If Hatton's not careful the likes of Quigg and Murray will be off to pastures new.

Didn't Maloney sign a 6 show deal over 12 months with allegedly?

From when the boxing season started on SKY in September 2011 through to June 2012 Maloney had either 8 or 9 dates on SKY giving him just under 20 hours of air time. Sure he only has 6 shows on allegedly however I bet he gets more air time than he did at SKY.

Hatton Promotions also put on around 8 shows for SKY during the same period. I'm sure allegedly would be prepared to give Hatton between 6 and 8 dates if he requests them as part of the terms of coming to allegedly. As allegedly tend to do 4 hour shows, there would be plenty of air time for all of Hattons stable to be featured 3 or 4 times in the year.

I don't know what Maloney's terms were with BNation, Chad, but he made a reference in one of his recent posts that he's also in conversations with other TV networks. Maybe he can clarify. I take your point about Hatton's stable getting more airtime of they want to BNation but given Ricky's love of a pound note perhaps financially it won't be as attractive?

I did think that Hatton would have wrapped up a TV contract by now though.

Me too. Even without his comeback I thought his stable was strong enough to warrant a TV deal. Personally I enjoy watching Scott Quigg, Gary Buckland, Rendall Munroe, Sergey Rabchenko, Martin Murray, Joe Murray, Anthony Crolla and big Richie Towers. Quigg, Rabchenko and Murray are on the brink of the world stage. Would be a shame if they don't get the exposure they deserve.
