Matt-hwgt Tommy Collins (70)

Post by Palais »

Hi Matt! There's a bout entered for Tommy Collins 1977-12-15, a pts loss to Walter Santemore in New Orleans. However, this Tommy Collins, an ex-convict from Houston, Texas, was reported dead in February, 1977. A week after an interview with Harlan Haas, "the burly heavyweight fell with two bullet holes in his massive chest - a moment of anger over a crap game". This Collins was 36 years old.
I've tried to find another Tommy Collins who could have been Santemore's opponent in New Orleans that year, but in vain. I've also checked the previous year, but found nothing.
Query; Was there another Tommy Collins who boxed Santemore?
YT

Hello Palais,
According to the '78 RRB, this bout happened December 15, 1976, a year before he got ventilated.

Thanks Robin! I thought it was something wrong with that date. Strange though, my edition of that RRB doesn't show neither Tommy Collins, nor Walter Santemore. That's why I posted this query. Anyway, I'll change the date for the bout and ditch the query.

Sorry about that, it was the '81 RRB, it has Santemore's record.
