So his field of expertise is essentially 'the decline of professional boxing'?

If you honestly believe that why do you post about boxing nearly everyday? How did he get on by the way?loaded_gloves wrote:So his field of expertise is essentially 'the decline of professional boxing'?

He's not been on yet.
And I do honestly believe that. A drug addict is probably aware his life has gone badly downhill but it doesn't necessarily mean he can kick his habit.

He has now been on. He struggled and only managed four. He didn't even know what round Antonio Tarver KOd Roy Jones in, or who the WBO champ was when Lewis beat Tyson.
I got nearly all of them, easily. I don't think that's a good thing though.

Nicely put, I guess it's how I feel about football, except it's made me follow boxing more now. Boxing since 2000 is too broad surely he should have gone with a division or even world title fights since 2000 (although with all the alphabets that would be a nightmare.)

I would have got those 2 (although I don't know ehter I'd do great in 'what round did they win' questions). Remember any of the other questions?loaded_gloves wrote:He has now been on. I'd be utterly sh1te on that. I have contempt for all the bodies and can never remember what belts fights were for.loaded_gloves wrote:He has now been on. He struggled and only managed four. One question was who retained his middleweight title in 2004 on the same bill Oscar de la Hoya won his WBO middleweight belt. Most if not all of us here would get that before the question was asked. As machomen said though, nerves will play a big part in it.
The second question was 'Who fought Evander Holyfield three ti-' at which point I shouted out John Ruiz. Humphries was able to keep reading out the incredibly long winded question right till the end and even then it took him a while to answer - '..mes from 2000 to 2001 for the WBA heavyweight title, the final fight ending in a draw where the champion retained his title'.
Etc etc.

I remember a fella doing one of these on Hatton a year or so ago. People need to narrow the topic down. If that's his speciality he should've halved it an done the other half in the next round!

My point was that if he had shouted out Ruiz after the first part of the question it could have been wrong.

It wouldn't because the subject was boxing since 2000 - Riddick Bowe did not box Holyfield in the 2000s once, let alone three times.

Finally a specialised subject on Mastermind that I can answer alot on.

Who was the wbo champ one? I cant remember. Byrd maybe?
Re: Mastermind (BBC 2, 2000, Fri 12 Oct 12) Boxing since 2000
That Jc Chavez question was a bit of a tricky one as that one crossed into the 80's and 90's. I definately misinterpeted the question there to only look at his title fights since 2000.
A bit sly that one Mastermind.

Missed that one, but it'll probably be on Catch Up TV on my Virgin Box. Might give that a watch tonight.

Go to 10mins 30.
His name was Xavier and he was a private equity investor - so i wouldn't have expected him to well but maybe he did ok considering the pressure. I got all the same ones that he got right though plus 3 or so others.

You say that but if you look closely he is the one who starts the ruck in the crowd at the Tyson Fury vs Nicolai Firtha fight. Or as slapbangwallop calls it the moment when the guys were all hugging each other and shouting good will to all men.Shirow wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... Episode_9/
