Did Audley lay the blueprint to beating Price?
Did Audley lay the blueprint to beating Price?
I believe Audley Harrison laid the the blueprint for beating Price, he showed the following things -
1. Dont do what he did
2. Be David Haye.
On a serious note i think there are very few fighters in the UK that have the right style to beat price especially now he seems to have developed some real kill.
Theres maybe 3 fighter in the UK that can make a competitive match up -
Chisora - able to bob and weave, throws punches and is aggressive
Fury - has the reach and size advantages to ofset that of prices
and Haye who probably has the ideal style to beat price - stays out of distance, darts in lands bombs, hard to hit. But its a completely pointless fight for him.
Skelton i think is actually a very good match up for the next fight; he comes to fight and puts the pressure on, thats something Price needs to go up against, i can for one second see him winning but it will be a good learning experience.
If Price cant get Fury or Chisora after Skelton he really needs to be looking at moving states side looking at arreola, stivern, mitchell etc and should then realistically be thinking about fighting wlad towards the end of next year.

Yes but lets face it from the current crop if he makes it to end of round 2 or round 3 and actually manage to put some pressure on price it will be far better than anyone else can manage.keithmoonhangover wrote:Don't start again mate. Re: Did Audley lay the blueprint to beating Price?
I think the only way to beat David Price is you have got to jump on him from the first bell and get him on the backfoot so he cannot get that long punishing left jab going because unless Nikolai Valuev suddenly emerges from Siberia and/or fights Tyson Fury he is always going to be the bigger man and will look to dictate the fight with that jab. But I am very much doubtful that Matt Skelton at 45 no matter how fit he is can do it.
Re: Did Audley lay the blueprint to beating Price?
i think i may be being taken out of context i dont think skelton will be a competitive fight but i thinks its the best fight that can be made right now and should give price something he hasnt had before - someone coming forward throwing punches.
Re: Did Audley lay the blueprint to beating Price?
McDermott went for that tactic and landed a nice shot on Price just before he was put down.IRLangmaid25 wrote:I think the only way to beat David Price is you have got to jump on him from the first bell and get him on the backfoot so he cannot get that long punishing left jab going because unless Nikolai Valuev suddenly emerges from Siberia and/or fights Tyson Fury he is always going to be the bigger man and will look to dictate the fight with that jab. You need to be
a) A big lump like he is, the day of a 6ft 2ins, 220lbs heavyweight of beating him are remote.
b) Handspeed - see how Camarelle destroyed him.
That is why I think Fury will beat him when they meet. He is bigger and has fast hands

I THINK PRICE BEATS THEM ALL AT THE MOMENT.....
FURY MAKES TO MANY MISTAKES AND IS OPEN FOR PRICES RIGHT HAND....
SKELTON AND DEL BOY WILL TRY AND COME FORWARD BUT PRICE CAN KEEP THEM ON THE END OF HIS JAB AND STOP THEM BOTH IN THE FIRST 4 ROUNDS.....

For me the only domestic fighter with the speed and power to beat Price is Haye. A Fury fight would be fun, but not one that I see being all that competitive. The difference in how they throw their shots in massive. Fury may have a bit more speed (debatable) but he doesn't have anything like the same power behind his arm shots or the timing.
Would hate to see Price stuck on a domestic merry-go-round, wasting time fighting the likes of Skelton. Time to push him onto bigger and better fights. If Maloney is delivering Skelton on allegedly for him then I wonder whether he'd be better off joining his boyfriend at handsome Eddies mansion live on Sky?

People seem to be taking sides,
But I really like both fighters. The 'rivalry' is entertaining. But both promoters know the other man could stunt future earnings of the other losing fighter. I hope that fear doesn't derail it happening.

I agree with you about Fury. He does have fast hands for a heavy, but they do seem like arm punches. There is a massive disparity in power between Price and Fury. Price's technique for punch deilivery is much better than Fury's. It's something Fury will need to improve on at world level.
Re: Did Audley lay the blueprint to beating Price?
i think fury would have very little chance of beating price. fury usually fights guys much smaller than him where he can use his physical advantages over them to diguise the fact that hes not very good defensively. that and the fact that they are either ancient, out of shape , or journeymen. im sure if price fought the same guys as fury he would have looked better and probably got them out of there quicker...ie mcdermott. fury hasnt been anywhere near a puncher, and im not convinced he 'd be able to stay away from prices punches.
Re: Did Audley lay the blueprint to beating Price?
Best fight for Price next outside of Chisora of Fury would be Sprott.

I appreciate the love this forum gives Michael Sprott, I just don't get it
Nice little boxer, don't want to see him anywhere near Price though. What would be the point? He hasn't won a meaningful fight since he landed a bingo punch on Audley good knows how many years ago.
If it's not Chisora or Fury then Price should leave domestic opposition well alone.

I don't see that the Sprott fight is that much better than the Skelton fight to be honest. Both seasoned campaigners that with experience of making life difficult for opponents. Not much difference between the two.dbf wrote:Best fight for Price next outside of Chisora of Fury would be Sprott.

Well said.
Re: Did Audley lay the blueprint to beating Price?
realistically and i did say this numerous times before the fight - Price in 1-5 was the smart money, but as i said a. im a harrison fan (i never bet against someone or something im a fan of ie england) and b. the odds for harrison to do something were great. I expected him to do better or be in with more than just a punchers chance if he went out firing (which he didnt as usual) to be honest but i knew it was unlikely he would win. You can read my posts on the build up i said it quite plainly. I would never put big money on a bet so betting on price was out of the question. Theres plenty of sure things that fall flat on their arse.keithmoonhangover wrote:Hagler2002 wrote:In hindsight do you agree that anyone who backed Harrison to beat Price is a complete and utter effing mug?kingfinn wrote:I believe Audley Harrison laid the the blueprint for beating Price, he showed the following things -
