Who will Tyson Fury fight in December?

Post by Tunney »

Why is it taking Hennessey so long to find an opponent?

About half the BoxRec current top 50 heavyweights are looking for their next fight.

Why not try to get Alexander Dimitrenko, Michael Grant, or Tony Thompson?

Sorry, I didn't notice the other thread.

I can't understand with so many HWs looking for a fight why it's taking so long for Hennessey to find someone.

I'd guess it's a combination of a fairly limited purse offer from Team Fury combined with excessive demands from anyone with a 'name'. No-one has yet accepted in that sweet spot between Promotional Profiteering and topping up a Heavyweight Hamburger Pension fund.

If he fights someone good with this short an amount of notice then fair play.

Alex Leapai or Derric Rossy are the best we can expect. Probably.

Fury said today he made proposals to Adamek, Chambers, Chagaev and Povetkin:

But he and Hennesey should have contacted Dimitrenko, Grant and others that are looking for a fight.

He's just tweeted that he's fighting someone from the WBC top 5.

1 Arreola
2 Stiverne
3 Boytsov
4 Fury
5 Grano

Arreola and Stiverne are having a final eliminator against each other so it'll either be the dangerous unbeaten Russian, Denis Boytsov or Tony Grano, who I had to look up and was sparked in 2 rounds by the murderous Nikolai Firtha and earned his ranking with victories over Davarryl Williamson and Brian Minto.

If he fights himself I hope he does us all a favour by knocking himself out.

My money is on his local Avon Lady or is she isn't available, his local pub landlord! :bag:

Facetiousness aside, Fury really needs to step up now.

He talks a good game & has proven he's got the balls to match the talk, but the standard of his opponents leaves a lot to be desired.

The 3 guys you've mentioned would be good stepping stones for him & far better than the names on his record right now.

yeah classic on that although he's not the first big man to uppercut himself, Wladamir Klitchsko did it whilst warming up for a fight and Stitch got called in to stem the blood.

This has got me thinking, how much Di you reckon you could amend a fighters wiki page without the tabloids cottoning on? Nicknames, well known facts etc?

It's funny you said that (and I know I'v told this story on here before but it's worth mentioning as often as possible because it is incredibly funny) because the Spurs midfielder Sandro, from Brazil just before he signed for Spurs didn't have much on his english wikipedia page. So I went on his wikipedia page and made up some bullshite story about some chant that the fans at his Brazilian club used to sing about him and his agricultural roots. For the record none of it's true and I dunno if he even has agricultural roots. But I happened to be in London the next day and on the tube in the Metro that day....

I think we know where the Metro journalists do their research!

Brilliant, that's the type of thing that could easily be written about a boxer. I'm sure you'd get away with it to a very high level too
