That list is the official WBC rankings. But you're right, they are strange.

Crazy rankings. Fujimoto has had 5 fights and he's number 15. He'll probably be fighting Vitali next.

I love how alphabet ratings are misused by boxers/promoters using them to boost the claims of an opponent.

Looking at the WBC rankings, the top 5 is Arreola, Stiverne, Boytsov, Fury and Grano.

But this excludes proper champions, Wlad and Vitali Klitschko, so it's actually a top 7.

And then others are unranked for various spurious reasons...

Povetkin is a WBA champion apparently (thus making the ranks a top 8 )
Chambers, Mitchell and Thompson are unranked for some affiliation to IBF (top 11)
Helenius is out on medical grounds (Top 12)

and then you have Haye and Chisora who don't get a mention but will be shoved in at a high number as soon as the money's right. (Top 14).

So the best Fury can say is that he's fighting a Top 14 opponent, but even that stretches credulity given that Grano has somehow earned a top 5 spot ahead of Adamek, Solis, Pulev and even Chauncy Welliver.

I would love it if someone from David Price's team bought up ten ringside seats and sent along a bunch of guys dressed up like Mario and Luigi. That would freak Tyson out.

Tony grano, lost to firtha, who lost to Fury

what a waste of a fight

if he needs a wbc ranked fighter, go for Luis Ortiz or a Dimtrenko
Grano is a backward step, where as other 2 are forward steps!!!

No reason to rush Fury, he has a lot of time on his side and still needs to learn, he is a lot younger than Price

But this isnt even a tick over fight. As for Furys age im not so sure hes as young as he says either. Fury has fought Chisora and all these months later hes fighting Grano. :witzend:

At latish notice i think this is as good as a opponent we could expect. If we don't get the Price fight next then i hope we get to see Fury v Pulev

So Tony Grano "earned" his 5th ranking by the WBC for beating Brian Minto and the 44 year old DaVarryl Williamson? I don't get it :KO:.

I'm afraid as much as I'd find a conspirecy theory about Tysons age funny he is indeed the age he claims to be. Not only did we go to manchester to train when he was a "kid", but he also competed in the world juniors winning a bronze, 2005ish?

When I say a kid it was circa when he was 17ish, just before first price fight. So whenever that was.
