Sure last week I read somewhere that he was training and they hoped he would be on their Christmas show (with Purdy v Jones). Thought it also said an announcement was due to be made this week. Will have to have a think as to where I read it though as I can't for the life of me remember and so could be making this all up

Looking at his Twitter account, it seems he's back training.

He has got to be one of the most unluckiest British fighters as ever as he has got the talent to be a topline fighter at Middleweight but he is just so cursed with injuries as he has had both his hips done and his arm went in training before the Alexandra Palace bill that he was meant to be headlining with Bomber.

He considered jacking.

Glad he's continuing though. Nice skills and good bloke.

I didn't know he's had both his hips done! knackers yard it is. Did he used to play other sports a lot or something that's quite a lot to go wrong at his age.

Hope will give him s good fight but barker will show his class and win wide on points to break the rust off and set up a big fight with Murray

i hope training goes well for him, barker has to be one of the unluckiest boxers about just as the middleweight divison is really hotting up hes having bad injuries, which are surely gona start taking there toll now hes 30. coming back from injury is surely harder i hope im wrong as im pushing 30 myself :( and that barker can come back stronger and have an amazing rivalry with macklin, murray and now hopefully saunders.

if that is true surely it's a step back for barker with no title on the line unless eddie can magic up a IBF international title or one of his famous FINAL eliminators.

Maybe it's a treading-water exercise.

He gives Kerry a fight for rematching Proska, and Barker gets a needed run out.

Middleweight is starting to come together, Kid Choc vs N'dam this weekend etc.

Personally I think this is a good fight? If Barker is top draw he should beat Hope comfortably but this is also a MASSIVE opportunity for Hope. Good luck to the pair of them. Ill be going to the show. Great card!

Lets not pretend Eddie is doing Kerry a favour. Kerry did Eddie one if anything when agreeing to that rematch when Hearn amazingly did not have any options on him.

They should stick him in with Eamonn O'Kane. That would quickly shed any ring rust.

barker has injuries and layoffs. hope seems to be an all year round fit guy. this can make a difference. i've enjoyed watching hope fight, especially vs proksa. hopefully a good fight that heats up.
