Nicola Adams and Boxing writers award

Well Nicola Adams has become the first woman to win a Boxers Writers award, she got he Joe Bromley Award for outstanding services to boxing. Which is a fine award in itself, but Anthony Joshua and Luke Campbell were jointly named amateur boxer of the year.

Now to me Nicola should be given that award as well, all 3 boxers won Gold Medals , so why not give the same award to all of them?

Plus dare i say, Nicola was more impressive in her run to gold medal.

Well Adams got the top award it was nice the two lads were awarded for their efforts too. I'm sure Adams aint too bothered

There was a big piece on Nicola Adams in the Sunday Times on the weekend as she has been nominated for Sports Woman of the year, so theres the possibility of another award heading her way.

Isn't the BWA awards a notoriously male-only event? Did she have to accept her award via a telephone?

I read somewhere that she is the first female to be invited to the event (I was surprised as I thought that Jane Couch would have been there somewhere along the way).

I agree with the other comments though, the award for amateur boxer of the year should have gone to the 3 gold medallist and not just the 2 lads.

From what I have seen of her, Nicola is great for the sport of boxing (not just womens boxing).

Are pro-am shows allowed under BBBC rules? A pro-show featuring, say, Nicola Adams and Katie Taylor in Amateur bouts on the undercard would surely sell tickets and be attractive to TV companies?

Fwank got permission to do them featuring Khan in 2005 but he went pro instead and they never happened.

There certainly were a long time ago. I remember an amateur Barry Morrison featuring in a pro-am show that was the UK leg of a PPV (cannot remember what one).
