Tickets are £30 mate, and the venue takes 300-350 (but could be more) im lead to believe

No disrespect but football is a huge sport your never going to compete with that haha. Here's a wee tip though put on competitive fights then people will come and watch no one like to watch boring fights as you say every 8-10 weeks. 50/50 fights is what the public want can't see it happening though

Word down here was that if that if there first fight took place anywhere else apart from Scotland it would have been a Smith win or at worse a draw. So hats of for making it happen over 10 rounds. Now if Kris Hughes gets a good 50/50 fight I will be impressed. Maybe Dougie Curran? Would be easy to make.

Quite a surprise its over 10 considering Smith has only had 3 fights. Interesting rematch though.

The big differences being - football supporters know who the other team will be and it is likely to be a competitive match.

That wasn't a dig at prospects it was in boxing in general. People get fed up watching these type of fights unless the fights become more competitive you guys and anyone else will struggle. Butcher v Smith seems ok was seemingly a close fight but for a masters title when Smith is 2-1. I agree Hughes v Curran is a good fight or he could fight Roberts or Clark all good 50/50 fights.. Guaranteed to getting a lot more interest in boxing.

Interest In Boxing is not just generated by the fights there in . Look at Eubank Jnr or Khan when they are in their first few fights,there fighting journeyman ,but still people tune in to watch them, people will buy tickets to shows cause they want entertainment or they know the fighters and want to be progressed ... im not saying 50/50's aernt important but dont overlook other factors aswell david

i could also point to your bit about Smith not being suitable for a masters shot after 3 fights. That is only 2 less than your brother , and Smith has already fought 6 x 3 mins (totalling 18 mins) ,now factor this in with the fact that in the flyweights there is a real lack of depth in fighters compared to the bigger weights the general concencious is that you will get title shots a lot quicker. Look at Satchell last week in Liverpool, i think he was 9-0 up to that point . The last fight was competitive ,and they were happy with the offer that was made and was happy for the fight up here.

have a look at this interview butcher gave after the last fight were he says he would have been happy to go downthere for the rematch ,should it happen.

In fairness I will take your point there's only 7 flyweights and 12 super flyweights so agree with your point there.. Surely after this fight butcher will be looking at an eliminator should he win. As for boxing and Eubank Jnr and Khan the both get away with fighting journeymen because of their names. A journeyman serves a purpose for 3-4 fight try to adapt to the pro game and get rounds under your belt. You get much better fights when the prospects fight each other.. Nothing I hate more than going to a show and knowing exactly what's going to happen.

so you would allow them to get away with it cause there Well Known ? not really fair approach to it to be honest. Also some pros take longer to mature and learn, you cant just give them 3/4 journeyman and expect them to pick it up or you could actually damage a figther and there confidence ...

Well if a fighter is matched too hard too soon , that could damage that fighter if they pick up ko/loss after ko . You can disagree with that but i think you are overlooking the fact if a fighter is not matched correctly you could cause them problems ,and not all Pros develop as early as 4 fights before you move them up .

Sean bowman is a super bantamweight fought at 8st11 Iain fights at 8 st and is a flyweight but if bowman cud get near to 8 st this fight cud be made Iain won't be avoiding any flyweights or superfly weights Infact the opposer we canni get opponents to take a fight reason were having to get him foreign opponents as for the smith fight it was a good fight but Iain clearly won the fight the smith camp saying the were robbed in scotland was nothing more than an excuse for
Loosing and he has pulled out the rematch so Iain won't be fighting him on the 7th.

Thats a real shame Iain can't get the fights he needs to develop at this stage in his career. Patience is key though and I'm hopeful he'll be a top operator some day. Best of luck to him.
