Good win for Carslaw. Not many stop McCauley so quickly.

Re: Paisley town hall
Dougie Curran beating Stephen Russell was a big of an upset, Currans has a few wins in Scotland before mind you.
Re: Paisley town hall
Check the records of the away corner mate 44 wins and 308 losses between them and that will tell you how good the card wasAlba wrote:Sounded like a good card,ShadrachSimmo wrote:http://news.boxrec.com/news/2012/carsla ... eyes-prize

well look at the opponents on most of the under card fights even on the televised cards they will have less favourable records, journeyman are important part of building a fighter up. It may not look good on paper, but the reality is mate you need them to have educate young fighters
Re: Paisley town hall
Curran was half stone heavier than Russell and the fight got called off by Russels Manager
but Russell decided to take it after consulting few folk .
think he killed himself doing the weight and needs to start taking it alot more serious if hes wanting to do something
very talented boxer but just plays at the game

Re: Paisley town hall
I must admit I was suprised at the Russell result. I have only saw him box one but heard a lot of talk about him. Curran is game but you have to be beating him if you are wanting to take the sport serious. Why was Curran 6pound over?? Late replacement or what?
Going back to the card, it wasn't really competative. i understand people who say ourneymen are importaint to young boxers, couldnt agree more, the first 5/6 fight should be about learning and getting the rounds in but eddie doyle boxed matt seawright. Now doyle is like 14-0 and he's boxing a guy who he already beat 2 years ago. No disrepect to Seawright but since the first fight with Doyle his record is 0-2-27. What the hell is Doyle goni take from that?? He was suppose to box lee mcallister for the commenwealth title but that fight was scraped 6 weeks before this show, so they could have got a better opponent than seawright. I am a Doyle fan that's why I am frustrated. I want him to push on not stay at the level he was at 2 years ago!

Re: Paisley town hall
dont know i think curran weighed in on the day , had travelled up same day
he was six or seven pounds heavier on the night anyway and sacrified some cash i believe so the fight went ahead

Hope that Doyle-Mcallister fight still goes ahead. Mccallsters monopolised those titles for a while.xrgcx wrote:I must admit I was suprised at the Russell result. That's nothing to do with the boxer its the organisation that allows it to happen totally wrong,I think if a fighter is injured for a period of time two others should fight and the person who gave up the title gets to fight the winner within say 90 daysShadrachSimmo wrote:Hope that Doyle-Mcallister fight still goes ahead. True I'm not blaming mccallister it does seem to happen quite a lot with the Commonwealth titles. Rob norton held the title for long periods without defending.billy nelson wrote:That's nothing to do with the boxer its the organisation that allows it to happen totally wrong,I think if a fighter is injured for a period of time two others should fight and the person who gave up the title gets to fight the winner within say 90 daysShadrachSimmo wrote:Hope that Doyle-Mcallister fight still goes ahead. Re: Paisley town hall
This was our first promotion at Saltire Boxing and we have had good feedback from the show. I agree, that we want more competitive fight cards but we found it difficult to attract the fights we wanted on a small hall budget. There was also problems with fighters pulling out which resulted in Matt Seawright coming in to face Doyle last minute. Stephen Russells opponent Dougie Curran came in 6 lbs heavy on the night. We decided to go ahead with the fight which didn't workout for us and we take it and move on. From a personal point of view I'm gutted anytime one of our boxers lose, apart from that the show went well and as said the feedback was good.
Re: Paisley town hall
Great job Collin, takes alot of balls to put on a show. As u never no how it's goin tae wrk out, as u need to rely on others to make it a busy sussesfull night.
Re: Paisley town hall
From what I hear the show went well. For anyone that's not been to Paisley Town hall for a fight night should get along for Saltires next show. The Atmosphere is amazing if its full Lex Easdon has been putting kickboxing shows on there for years. When Ronnie"The Shark"Clark won the World title we had about 150 through from Dundee along with the paisley guys getting right behind him and it was an amazing atmosphere. I hope you guys can get a lot more shows and some title fights down your way.
