Prime Jack Dempsey vs. a prime Max Baer match up?

Jack Dempsey was 14 years older than Max Baer. When Jack exited out of professional boxing ranks back in 1927, Max hadn't even entered into the pro ranks. Max first became a pro back in 1929.


Had Jack & Max fought during the same time interval in pro boxing.

Had they both been in their respective primes. Had a promoter set up a match between Dempsey & Baer.

A prime Jack Dempsey vs. a prime Max Baer.


Who do you think would have won?

In regards to which strengths would Jack have had over Max?

Which strengths would Max have had over Dempsey? If any?

You know, I would instinctively go lopisded with Dempsey and think all other opinions to be foolish.

And when I reflect on this.....that's just the way I thought about Frazier and Foreman.....before Foreman made me a believer.

I'm not changin' my mind, but maybe I shouldn't be quite so certain.

Baer was more powerful than Dempsey and could take punishment as well. However Dempsey had such a ferocity to him, and such a high work rate, that I think Dempsey eventually would have worn Baer down and of stopped him. Then again.... it all depends on which Max Baer showed up to fight: the clown or the crusher.

Would only give Baer a remote punchers chance. Dempsey would be all over and stop him in a few rounds.
