More interested in seeing who Alex Leapii is fighting. Seeing SBW beat up on a 44 year old does not interest me. SBW KO/Stoppage 1st or 2nd round.

But this 44 year old has fought a few more times against slightly better opposition.

He can box a bit and knows a few tricks

Granted he's got some great names on his record, All along time ago and all stopped him. The last person he beat of any note (and only) was Axel Shultz and then he got done for cheating, not only is he 44 but he weighed 275+lbs for his last fight. If you think this anything more than (hopefully) a final payday then you are dilutional.

He has been stopped 7 times. Have a look at the fighters that stopped him and ask yourself how your rugger bugger would have gone against them.

Brute your like a child you remind me of Raymond Babbitt from Rainman of coarse SBW would get hammered against the recent greats Botha got hammered by. I'm simply saying I believe that a young fit SBW is gonna knock-out a 44 year old 275+ Botha early - very early.

The result of SBW and Botha means absolutely nothing to me. Part time boxer meets overweight, over the hill 44 year old.

Things have been very quiet lately at Lionheart. Leapai broke his hand what seems a long time ago. Would be nice to hear how he's going and who he is likely to fight next.

You said all the good fighters Botha fought stopped him. I agree that you are simple. By the way, Silly Bill did his shoulder in tackling Australian Gene Fairbanks in a Japanese Rugby game last night so the upcoming fight could be in trouble.

Dunny remains optimistic:
However, Williams rejected a report he would miss the rest of the Japanese rugby competition, putting an end to the November 24 fight in Brisbane and casting doubts about his return to the NRL with Sydney Roosters. ''I am just waiting for a full prognosis in the next 24 to 72 hours,'' Williams told The Sun Herald last night. Williams later tweeted: ''Results back, nothing serious, small tear, so hopefully still be able to [fight Botha].'' The 26-year-old dual international intends to proceed with plans to fly to Australia this week to step up his training for the bout with Botha

to say sbw will beat up on an old 44 year old botha is pretty silly craigyid...look at bothas recent fights. yes his last 3 fights were losses, but:

michael grant (47-4) - botha was ahead on the cards before getting ko'd with 37 seconds to go
carlos tekem (24-1) - botha stopped in the 11th round
francesco pianeta (26-0) - botha lost on points to pianeta, who has beaten mccall, skelton and drew against sosnowski.

the above names are professional boxers, who have fought and beaten world class opposition (as has botha)...these people are galaxies away from the gary gurr's and ryan hogan's.

the difference in level of opposition between botha and williams is massive.

Just noticed that SBW's fight notice against Botha on the Schedule has disappeared.

This latest media report suggests that the bout is in big "Barney Rubble":

If you want to box at championship level you have to concentrate on boxing alone. It's not like amateur golf.

We can now safely put this thread to bed as the media has confirmed the bleeding obvious:
The heavyweight fight between former All Black Sonny Bill Williams and South African veteran Francois Botha has been postponed until next year.

The bout was scheduled to take place in Brisbane on November 24, but Williams’ chest injury suffered playing Japanese club rugby last weekend has forced the delay.

The fight’s promoters said in Johannesburg on Wednesday an exact date for the rescheduled bout would be worked out after they meet Australian TV broadcasters.
The chooks for whom Dunny was mooted to front up to may be getting a bit toey with his injury and Khodar's NRL registration issues!

Today's rag says it has been postponed to some time next year.

All the NRL teams will be in training by Christmas.
