He has got stick for that fight! There was a thread made a day or so after the Harrison fight asking what people thought of the Skelton fight and there were people in there slating it as a contest. The Dark Destroyer wrote:But why is he free from criticism when Fury isn't? The difference being, Fury spouts off at the mouth about fighting anybody and everybody, while Price states he's learning his trade and looking to step up bit by bit.
If Fury and his team had a little bit less mouth on them, maybe they'd be cut more slack like Price?
Price's praise and standing comes from fans and critics. Fury's comes from Fury and his team.

Re: Tyson Fury vs Denis Boytsov!!!!! Its on!!!!!
I think the reason Fury gets stick is because he hasn't stepped it up since beating Chisora. If anything the guys he has faced since Chisora have been a step down. I personally can forgive him given how young he is, and the fact he has gone and got himself into really good shape now is a bonus. I also think he gets stick because he acts like such a prat at times. That act at the DeGale fight wasn't funny at all, looking like a chav and stuttering your way through something a 12 year old would use as an insult isn't amusing in the slightest. Much like Degales act before he fought Groves, all that rubbish he was flinging on ringside. Again I will say I can forgive him this because clearly it is an act, I saw a 45 minute long interview with him last week that someone on here posted and he came across as a perfectly sound bloke so he clearly isn't someone who struts around Salford in a baseball cap making W signs with his fingers. The Dark Destroyer wrote:Good. Do you think it compares to anything directed towards Fury? If him and Price were to suddenly announce they have shitcanned their next fights and will face each other in December tho I would be expecting to see a Price victory.
Re: Tyson Fury vs Denis Boytsov!!!!! Its on!!!!!
Its a good fight. This is the chance for Fury to silence some doubters for a while. I think Fury will win the fight because Boystov doesn't look big enough and Fury should have a big reach advantage.
Re: Tyson Fury vs Denis Boytsov!!!!! Its on!!!!!
It shows his improvement, if you think of the first McDermott fight he looked to have found his level, now he is picked to beat someone like Boystov, it makes it clear to me that he is too young to be rushed and that there is scope for further improvement.brian13 wrote:Its a good fight. I disagree with the poster who said if boxers were all like Price it would get boring. Price is anything but boring. With his one punch KO power and his own suspected vulnerability he is box office.
Ricky Hatton never really criticised his opponent went on twitter rants etc but is the biggest box office star the UK have seen. He was getting that way long before his cheeky chappy persona was making the public headlines.

Re: Tyson Fury vs Denis Boytsov!!!!! Its on!!!!!
Boystov has spinal probs I heard. Might be they're rolling the dice now because of that.
I know as a kid he had heart defects too. He shot up by about 5 stone in 18 months, he was like a welter and next thing was a super heavy. I think it was a Universum promo it was mentioned (?)
Regardless, he is Marco Huck sized and a combo-puncher. I'd expect Fury to jab his face off.

This is a very good fight.
Anyone who says otherwise is either so anti Fury they can't see their arse from their elbow or knows nothing about Boxing.

I didn't realise Boytsov was so young, if feels like another lifetime ago since he was considered a future prospect.
His relative inactivity must be an issue, I aint seen him fight in ages - how has he looked most recently.

I think Fury will have his peak earlier than other heavies for some reason. I cannot see him being around in 10 years.

This. He always looked strangely over-muscled did Boytsov, & the talk of heart defects would lead a more cynical cove than I to wonder if strange things were afoot with his biochemistry.
Also:
"2001 won Cadet World Championship at Light Middleweight in Baku, Azerbaijan.
2002 won Cadet World Championship at Heavyweight in Kecskemet, Hungary."
Uh, what? Suspicious? Light-middle to heavy in one year? Growth spurt, right?
Also also:

Bidenko (the dude on the right of your screen) is 6'3", maybe six-four at the most. Boytsov won't come up to Fury's nipples & as Gomez said, he ain't no puncher.
This is fantastic matchmaking against an opponent I've never really rated. Well done the Fury camp. Luke'll tan his arse all over the shop.

I agree with you regarding Price's skills in the ring and ko power, but boxing is all about the build up IMO

Hatton's style was his biggest attraction. All action. Heavyweights aren't really like that and Price certainly isn't.
Tapping in to the football crowd is where Hatton really struck gold. He had ( has? ) the loyal support that only football really brings. Taking thousands upon thousands to Vegas? Unheard of in the history of boxing and I mean right back to when the noble art began. A few foreign fighters can pack the crowds in thousands of miles from home but the crowd will be local ex-pats or local fans etc, Ricky took thousands from the UK specifically for his fight. That don't happen in Boxing.

Re: Tyson Fury vs Denis Boytsov!!!!! Its on!!!!!
Can someone explain to me why Boytsov is such a mouth watering opponent?
He's obviously got a hugely padded record and has been brought along at snail's pace, with no eyebrow raising results ('W8' over Maddalone, really?)
I'm not trying to be negative, but his record seems pretty suspicous. A '0' does not guarantee a good boxer.

Re: Tyson Fury vs Denis Boytsov!!!!! Its on!!!!!
It may not be able to happen again for a few years with the British economy; many of those going to Vegas had maxed out on cards or got a few grand from the bank against the rising value of their house; for many that's not an option now. If Ricky boxes in Vegas there'll be a fair few staying home and doing the PPV.lillywhite14 wrote:Hatton's style was his biggest attraction. All action. Universium, you say. That makes my selection even more satisfying because they over protected the day lights out of their fighters. If universium are still apart of his team, I don't think they will even travel to Belfast and pull out soon.G0mez wrote:Boystov has spinal probs I heard. Not trying to spoil things but universium were the biggest joke of a promotion outfit, I have seen.
Re: Tyson Fury vs Denis Boytsov!!!!! Its on!!!!!
I like this fight ,i think its a good test for Fury. Looking at his last few fights, if im honest i wasent looking forward to seeing him fght Vinny Maddonne/Martin Rogan/Nevan Pajick but quite enjoyed them .fury aint a perfect fighter ,and has his vulnaribalties but that is what makes him entertaining ...
Re: Tyson Fury vs Denis Boytsov!!!!! Its on!!!!!
Yes, it is. But that is the role of the promoter. Tyson and Holyfield, who were involved in one of the biggest selling fights in boxing history didn't need to use twitter etc to sell the fight. Ahead of their first fight there was very little talking or hyping between the two. Their records and their style sold the fight.rossij8 wrote:stujones wrote:I disagree with the poster who said if boxers were all like Price it would get boring. Price is anything but boring. Tyson and Holy were rare fighters, especially at Heavyweight. Won't see another match up like that for a decade, possibly two. Great fights between great fighters don't need to be sold.
Price is fine and dandy by me, as is Fury. They each have their way of going about things and good luck to both of them. Price is a little bland outside the ring but that doesn't matter a jot. Just as it don't matter that Fury likes to talk a bit.

Tyson
Great fight for Fury , win hear sets up beautifully for a Euro title in may against Helenius as belt will be vacant as Pulev will undoubtably fight Wlad. I cant see how Fury vs Price can be avoided in 2013 if they both win there next few fights
