I can see it being avoided if Fury beats Boytsov and then Helenius where as Price beats Skelton and another for his outright Lonsdale belt!

Furys camp would cite a far superior record and want 80% of the purse!

Hennessy does have a good history with the WBC tho doesn't he. Froch, Witter and Eastman all got their way to a World title shot via the WBC Mandatory route.

Tyson Fury to face Denis Boytsov next confirms Peter Fury.

Plus Fury says "After this fight we want to take Price on and show every one it was a mistake on their part. Tyson will take a back step to give them the fight. My view is it should be left down the line as Price hasn't done enough. But we will take it, It's up to them!" - Peter Fury

It's all well and good saying it tho, I think the promotional issues will keep the 2 apart for a little while longer.

To be fair if Fury fights and beats Boytsov in an eliminator then Price is a step back. Without a doubt.

Maybe. Thing is, I can't see him going from defending his British title to fighting the winner of a world title eliminator in one step. The other chap will ask who exactly has Price beat to deserve the fight?

I think Price beats both, he certainly don't smash Fury though. It will be a fairly close fight.

I like this match up. Not a fan of Fury but I think he wins this as his sheer size will be enough to overpower Boytsov.
He won't have it all his own way but I see a late round stoppage which will be an impressive scalp.

True and Fields is an American Footballer who got KOd at Prizefighter. Chisora got his shot after losing to two fringe top 10ers. Charr's best win was Danny Williams. The divison is so shite you only need to beat one hasbeen and you get catapulted to a title shot!

Fury will IMO go down heavily, if he manages to get to his feet he will go down again immediately, he won't get up from that in time, if this happens in the first 5 rounds and price dosent take to many shots back I would class it as smashing him up, remember this and wait and see !

Kudos to Fury for taking this. It's a tough fight but one he should win. I think they'll make the Price fight for next Summer, probably at the MEN or even possibly outdoors.

That's even worse he got a title shot, clarifying my point even more

massive respect to tyson on this one - most rate boytsov as one of the few class HW's (by most i mean most of the current scene but still he's a big risk) i would have thought boytsov would be bookies favourite in most countries.

The fight isn't a final eliminator.

Its now classed as a semi-eliminator  by the WBC.

I wonder who is fighting in the quarter-eliminator.

As an eliminator it is meaningless. A final eliminator between Stiverne and Arreola will determine who is the mandatory to face Vitali. So what this fight will determine is who is next in line to earn a final eliminator for a shot at Vitali when his next mandatory defence is due.

Take away any title credentials, however, and this is a quality fight between two unbeaten fringe world level contenders. The winner can be serioulsy considered worthy of a title shot while the loser doesn't necessarily lose much standing and can easily come back against a Dimitrenko, Chisora or Chambers type opponent.

When you consider Vitali is either going to have one more fight, or no more fights tho it actually could be deciding who will face Arreola/Stiverne for the vacant title.

If Vitali retires, then the winner of Arreola vs Stiverne will be given the title (if it's a final eliminator).

If that happens then we have a real candidate for worst heavyweight champion of all time.

To think there are people out there who think the Klits retiring will be good for the division!

If he retires before that fight happens then it will be made for the Vacant title. But if he retires afterwards I don't think they will be given the title. I can't think of a time the WBC has done that. The WBO may do it (they did it with Cleverly most recently) but I can't think of the WBC ever just handing a fighter a title without them fighting for it.

Edit - How the frig did I forget Lewis won his WBC belt first time via that method. Has there been a WBC champ since who gained the belt in this fashion?
