Oh and stop bleating on about his great amatuer pedigree, so what??? It's what he does now that counts not what he did in the Ams.

We will see in time I suppose but he ain't all that, sorry.

P.s. congrats on the win though, what the hell witter was doing rounds 5-10 I do not know.
He's British champion. Them that know him know what the fuss is about.
He is, but in my opinion only because witter physically stopped doing anything (literally) for about 6 rounds. I congratulate him on that for sure. Guess I'll see who's right as time goes on. Mind you, me mum thinks I'm the best singer since elvis, doesn't make it true like.

I would back him against Hatton and Purdy right now. Nobody ever looks good against Witter.

thought this fight may have heralded the coming of frankie gavin, but now im not so sure. yes its hard to look good against witter, but both alexander and bradley beat him convincingly when witter was younger and better. and both alexander and bradley were younger than gavin is now. cant see gavin ever being a threat to the top men in the division if he cant lay a glove on an old man fighting with his hands tied behind his back. also , because of the slow pace of the fight we never got to see if gavin really can do 12 hard rounds. however, he did win, and he probably learned a lot last night. would liketo see him fight carson jones now, or someone similar.

Why is it hard to believe? On his day you could hardly land a glove on him and he could knock you bandy with one shot. Smashed Vivian Harris who had, at the time, just beaten some very good men.

I don't mind people saying he's hard to watch, etc. but don't denigrate his achievements.
This.

I don't think Gavin will come particularly close to matching Juniors achievements as a pro.

Not a chance. Even though he won yesterday it's hard to see anything in Gavin. I wish him well though.

Bradley won a split, without the knockdown Witter would have kept the belt. Frankie won a landslide...

You're surprised by this? Witter only knocked out low level guys, when matched evenly he always stinks out the joint. This was a dire performance, even by his standards.

Dreadful fight. Witter's tactics, whilst expected, were just utterly baffling after the decent start he had. What on earth was he doing with his hands behind his back for about 4 of the midle rounds and in the last round I thought he'd entered some sort of dancing competition as literally all he did for the entire round was switch stance from orthodox to southpaw and back again about 30 times without throwing any punches! Gavin is by far the most overrated fighter in Britain today. I just don't see what the fuss is all about. He can't punch, gets tagged quite a bit himself, not particularly quick and bloody boring to watch. I don't see him going any higher than Euro level at best.

We will see. On achievement, i would say Price is the most overrated British Boxer at the moment.

We obviously have different tastes mate but I respect your opinion. For me Price is the most promising of all British fighters at the moment.

Witter needed a KO in the last round, so he decided to dance in front of Gavin instead, you wonder what was going through the guys head

Haha, if Frankie knocked out Wlad the unimpressed on here would cite Wlad's chin. Frankie did well, beat a balls of an awkward boxer who a lot of people on here thought would expose Frankie. He didn't, he couldn't. I respect Junior and his achievements, and his interview after the fight. He was just beaten by the better man on the night, when Frankie relaxed he was darting in and out and at times made Witter look silly. All the best to Junior, but well done Frankie for beating a former world champ who came in confident of winning. 14th fight, British champ, against an awkward former world champ who's been getting wins up until last night. Some posters on here do make me chuckle.

Also, I'm not sure Arnie wants to be talking about Frankie after Heffrons performance. I thought a lesson might have been learned in the Woodhouse presser, obviously not. Ridiculous statement to make after Heffron struggles through against a tough fighter who Gavin stood on his head. It sounded ridiculous, I'm sure he must know that, he's a smart guy. I'd fancy Witter to beat Heffron to be honest, that might actually highlight how effective Frankie was last night for most of the fight.

And the new :OhYes: :OhYes: :OhYes:

Is it just me who thinks that style of boxing that Witter has is utterly piss boilingly dreadful?

On his night he could look spectacular given a glass jawed opponent but most of the time effing dreadful.

He maybe is, thats why i put on achievement. Last nights win was the equivalent of Price beating Johnny Nelson, who even now would more than likely make Price look worse than Frankie looked last night.

The former - aye, fair enough.

The latter isn't true though - Harris had only been stopped once, Bienias had never been stopped, Battaglia had only been stopped once. I'm not saying they were all iron-chinned but they certainly weren't glass jawed.

What do you mean by 'low level'? He sparked a world champ. Also Euro-level chaps and national champs.

As for 'stinking out the joint', aye, understood...

I'm thinking more of the rest of his "long run of KO's" that we were constantly reminded of in the run up to 2005, most of them were just cannon fodder.

Yeah, whilst I think he run as WBC world champion is possibly a tadge overated - no one can dispute in his pomp Witter had true world class power.

You don't floor Lovermore Ndou if you haven't got world class power. For 5 rounds against Ndou he looked a geniune threat to any of the big boys of the devision at the time. I was posting at a US forum and during the round by round for that fight many forum members where even go so far as saying he is the only threat to Mayweather (not tipping him to beat Mayweather, but giving him more of a chance that Hatton etc).

Sadly after the 5 rounds he gassed terribly and indeed those early KD's is what won him the fight (nobody was calling him a threat after the 5 rounds).

I never felt Witter was quite the same after the Ndou fight, that was his peak moment. He had some good wins after, some excellent wins if you think that Kotelnik is still possibly in the top 10, Corley has beaten McCloskey etc. I personally thought Witter's prime was probably a year or two before his world title run - which is a shame.

Its a shame that Witter is so inconsistent. Flashes of brilliance followed by just dreadful no shows. He is now even becoming inconsistent in fights. I seriously thought he had injured himself and that why he was placing his right hand behind his back for over 3 minutes.... Why did he do that?

I can see why people start to disrespect his fantastic achievements when he shows the sport and his opponent that kind of disrespect. He showed in the last round that there was still something left in the tank, so why didn't he try to throw anything in the middle rounds.
