Johnny Nelson at it again on Ringside

Re: Johnny Nelson at it again on Ringside
every single boxing presenter on tv sems to be of the 'marmite' type, we could knock bunce and lillis...but they do a job!
richard keys is 'boxing clueless' but he does a job.
johnny nelson is a decent guy who knows the trade and been in there and done that, i quite like him.
ronald mackintosh is an articulate knowledgeable guy who will appeal more to the casual boxing fan than the astute boxing fanatic. i quite like ronald.
surely fellas...if you dont like the presenters, of they get on your tits, or are ruining british boxing......Then dont watch them! put up or shut up!

When it comes to commentary you could always do worse like Jim "he has Tapia on his shorts out of respect for his former opponent" Neilly.
Does anyone know what happened to Paul Dempsey? He was a good presenter, personally I think Adam Smith is a good presenter, just a crap commentator.
Yeah that's what's happening when I run Sky.
Presenter - Adam Smith
Commentator(single commentator by the way) - Ian Darke
Rotate studio pundits weekly and use ex-pros, current pros and journalists.

i think paul dempsey went to setanta ireland. perhaps his trademark haistyle let him down one morning as old father time caught up with him beyond the healing qualities of grecian 2000.
Re: Johnny Nelson at it again on Ringside
I have to admit the Sky boxing line up is as poor as ive ever known it. There simply arent enough international shows anymore.

Good presenter though, just not a good "head of sky boxing"danconnollyeire wrote:And regularly screwer of British Boxingbanjo wrote: Presenter - Adam Smith
Also I'd make Ringside fortnightly, one week for international boxing, a fortnight later for domestic boxing.

Starting to look very strained now. Sky runs more magazine shows than fight shows now and that balance is all wrong. They're justifying their own jobs more than covering the sport itself. It's a shame. And wrong.

Geniunally feel sorry for a lot at Sky. Their production and style still blows the competition out of the water - just not showing enough.
Not sure where the blame lies, is it at the head of boxing's shoulders or is it even higher than him.
It was very sad when Richard Keys yesterday smugged at rivals cutting back on the boxing.

It's not Nelson as a person I dislike, it's the fact that he can never string a basic sentence together.
Oh, and I actually like Buncey!

Some of the questions that the guests are asked are so inane, it really comes across as filling time and little else.
By my reckoning Johnny got his 'stablemate' count for this series up to 500 this week.

Nobody will come up with a better analogy than this.Imagine if Marvel made Avengers 2 and Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, Captain America, leather catsuit big tits and not Jason Bourne were all in it yet they had no one to fight. It would just be that lot sat about talking about what happened in the first film, which is very much like Ringside's current output.

His cock ups when presenting Ringside are getting worse!
Re: Johnny Nelson at it again on Ringside
i actually like and watch ringside, i think people need to cut nelson some slack hes not a natural presenter but is getting better and his partnership with adam smith is quite likeable i like nelson as a pundit rather then presenter maybe spencer oliver might of been better and think ringside should do a few more tribute shows.

SNAP thats just it. The inanity of Nelsons questions....and the fact that by asking such small talk like questions he is trying to justify his presence....of course its not Nelsons fault but Smith who sits next to him and is his boss.Matt W wrote:Some of the questions that the guests are asked are so inane, it really comes across as filling time and little else.

The most annoying illustration of this , and evidence that Nelson just has a set list of stock questions to ask, and does not understand the art of the interviewer ala say a Paxman is.....he often asks a dumbass question...and the interviewee might actually go on to start saying something interesting and revealing about something else, and NElson will jump in butt in whatever and stop the guy and than than ask him something irrelevent just as the guy was opening up!!!

Re: Johnny Nelson at it again on Ringside
Have you ever thought that Johnny is getting instuctions from the Producer through the ear piece ?
Try putting an earphone in your ear with the radio on, and ask a mate a question at the same time.
This presenting game isn't simple.
Not a shock for me that Nelson comes into his own when out of the studio where he has a bit of licence.

I think we need to bring Kammy in, just for the sake of entertainment.

I reckon McDonnell had a cold or something, he sounded awful. Even worse than he normally sounds!
