Don't get me wrong he now has a six pack and one may say looks very fit but we all know that doesn't mean you still keep your strength. I hope it's not too nasty this fight although I will definitely be tuning in!
Does anyone know what is happening with Enzo Calaxghe and whether he still works with him or not? I know he mentioned in the press he would never touch Enzo Mac again cause he is a drugs cheat but didn't know if this was typical Enzo going off on one before he engages his brain??
I like Enzo, he's a likeable fellow and matching him with McKenzie is really not going to do the man's health any favours at all.
Rather it didn't happen. With regards Enzo Calzaghe he was ranting how big Macc was a disgraceful drug cheat and would never ever work with him again..
..so expect him in the corner
haha! Would love to see Khan go with Enzo for his new trainer. I would then commission a TV crew to follow them around....that would be pure tv gold!! Bafta winning stuff!

I can't see anything other than McKenzie by brutal KO. Terrible fight, this. That being said, I think any fight for Enzo is terrible. He should not be boxing any longer. He is now very easy to hit and very vulnerable when he does. He seems like decent fella too, so I'll not be watching this one.

If he has to be maneuvered away from punchers these days then what is he still doing in the ring?

The way i see this is if enzo can ride the storm the same way as bellew did against ovil he will outbox him and win by ud or late tko. But ovil hits harder then shane he is a pure fighter not boxer and will come out all guns blazing turning it in to a 4 round fight. I cant see enzo chin holding against ovil. Like someone said already if enzo is struggling to make the weight why would u go in to a fight against someone like ovil weight drained? I met enzo and is wife and son after is fight with my bro and he as a lovly family and dont want to see any harm come to him. To be honest i would sooner see enzo against cleverly as that what fw wants a big fight in wales and at least he could retire going for a world title and actually think he would av more chance against cleverly then he would against ovil.

Poor old Enzo. The guy has to earn a living, he has a large family that need supporting.
However, this match is all wrong for him. McKenzie has real power and Enzo`s punch resistance has gone (was it ever there to start with). Unless he gets McKenzie out of there very early, he is likely to get caught and that will be all she wrote.

if enzo wins this, is he the most fragile fighter ever to pick up british, commonwealth, european and world honours? it would be some achievement considering his chin.

Yes... apart from yes wasn't so fragile until Haye reallystevieb_8006 wrote:if enzo wins this, is he the most fragile fighter ever to pick up british, commonwealth, european and world honours? it would be some achievement considering his chin.
Re: Ovill Mckenzie vs Enzo Maccarinelli
Agree with Clinton on this one. Early storm suggest Mckenzie but if Enzo survives that it should be his on points. Plus Enzo still has power so could feasibly stop Ovill. Enzo is a nice guy and it be a shame if he goes out like this, however if there is a test of whether he can still cut the mustard then this is it.

I dunno, don't forget Lee Swaby took Enzo out hard in 3 rounds early in his careerdanconnollyeire wrote:Yes... apart from yes wasn't so fragile until Haye reallystevieb_8006 wrote:if enzo wins this, is he the most fragile fighter ever to pick up british, commonwealth, european and world honours? it would be some achievement considering his chin.

In fairness to Enzo he said he barely trained for the fight and actually turned up with a hangover! I doubt that sort of preparation helps you much. The Bruce Scott fight is probably a better indicator. He got caught with a cracker and was put down, but recovered well to win.dookus wrote:I dunno, don't forget Lee Swaby took Enzo out hard in 3 rounds early in his careerdanconnollyeire wrote:Yes... apart from yes wasn't so fragile until Haye reallystevieb_8006 wrote:if enzo wins this, is he the most fragile fighter ever to pick up british, commonwealth, european and world honours? it would be some achievement considering his chin.
I think Enzo is a bit like Roy Jones in that once his chin was cracked properly his punch resistance was gone for good. Haye did that to Enzo like Tarver did to Roy. Both are KO's waiting to happen evry time they step in the ring now.

Jones would execute him.
As shot as Roy is these days, he's still not THAT bad that he'd lose to this version of Enzo.

I really like enzo he seems a nice guy and iv always enjoyed watching him fight, good luck to both I just hope enzo doesn't get badly hurt if he does get caught with big shots
i am/was a big fan of enzo.
A real nice guy.
but i really do worry he'll end up suffering lasting damage.
Should have retired a couple years back

Fight not to go the distance is a stone cold certainty here but will probably be about 1/10!
Re: Ovill Mckenzie vs Enzo Maccarinelli
FW has supposedly employed the same time keeper as the Shane Mcphilbin fight for this one.....the good news is that he now knows the difference between the length of a white collar fight and a pro bout.

I think this could end up an Enzo points win!SteveDow wrote:Fight not to go the distance is a stone cold certainty here but will probably be about 1/10!
Re: Ovill Mckenzie vs Enzo Maccarinelli
You'd get very good odds on that. For me McKenzie should stop Enzo but it very much depends on how Enzo chooses to fight. If he goes in there looking for a war I think he'll come of second best. If he tries to use his considerable height, reach and likely weight advantages and boxes sensibly it's not inconcievable he could win on points. I just have absolutely no faith in his chin though and McKenzie can punch.Superheavy wrote:I think this could end up an Enzo points win!SteveDow wrote:Fight not to go the distance is a stone cold certainty here but will probably be about 1/10!
Re: Ovill Mckenzie vs Enzo Maccarinelli
I think there have been fights where Enzo has done this and done it quite well, for 7 rounds or so, til he gets tired. I don't believe Enzo has the engine or discipline once he gets tired, to keep up doing all the right things for a long time against a decent puncher. He seemed to be doing ok in Frenkel fight I seem to remember. But then lost his discipline for a moment as he got a bit tired.SteveDow wrote:You'd get very good odds on that. Re: Ovill Mckenzie vs Enzo Maccarinelli
Everyone classes Ovill McKenzie has some destructive puncher, yes he hits hard but he's not a lights out hitter, he's had about 32 fights with 8 or 9 by ko, that's not the record of a destructive puncher, and if you look at the level of opponents he stopped that says it all really, he's earned his recent reputation of a huge puncher by the first fight with Tony Bellew. Enzo IS without doubt fragile compared to the fighter he used to be, but he hits a hell of a lot harder than McKenzie, has better work rate, and all round boxing ability IMO even at this stage in his career. I also think Shane McPhilbin is a lot more dangerous and hits a lot harder than McKenzie even though his brother Clinton didn't seem to think so, but that's just my opinion, we shall see fight night. I hope both fighters come out of it safe and healthy, there both nice guys.
