Of all the things you said in this thread that's the funniest. That wasn't a fair fight. It was the definition of a robbery. And as for Francis being 'domestic class' ... jeez, i'm not even gonna bother.

Not disputing the inept / corrupt refering or some of the poor judging. However, that fight would have been close had it been in the states and with no point deduction and the KD called - IMO.

Francis was quite abit above domestic class IMO.

such a shame that francis had his injuries as he was a fight away from a world title and at the time i was very confident he would of beat any of the other champions apart from calzaghe. Francis before injury was in great form battering carr, baker, starie and seillier in ruthless fashion.

never the same fighter on return but always had a great jab and left hook as well as being a greta combination puncher. probably one of the most disapointing injuries a fighter has had in recent memory given how his career was shaping up

I don't think we got to see the best of him but have to say that he always seemed more comfortable thrashing less able men; when he got it back (I can rememer the Calzaghe amateur bout) and later the Buster Keeton smashing; he didn't really want it. There were a lot of less able and gifted boxers that would have given it more of a go IMO.

Didn't Buster Keaton spark him? Can't remember but remember he was geniunally hurt - not sure what more he could have done he was hurt.

I think the Baker and Oakey fighters showed he had plenty of fight. Both fights were thrillers, the Baker fight wasn't a good performance by Francis. Possibly that fight could be used as a basis for the arguement that Francis was fringe world class at BEST - wasn't he down going into the last round he scored a last minute stoppage win.

The Oakey fight also had moments when Tony was on top, but Francis dug deep to get the KO.

Infact, this is a man who has fought twice with a dislocated shoulder for many rounds winning one fight, controvesially losing another... he floored Matthew Barney with one hand - thats quite impressive power.... Not sure we can question his heart.

Here is the Calzaghe fight for those interested - not sure we can question Dean's heart from this. He gets a standing 8. Tries to match fire with fire, gets tagged... goes down heavy, gets up... says to the ref he is okay, ref stops it.

I see this fight and I see young boy vs older boy.
