Re: SET BACK FOR WHYTE!
Feel a bit sorry for Dillian. He problably was using it working with our strength and conditioning team as they all use it too.
Never touched the stuff, as I saw the after effects of it once; when I was at a comp this year I watched a guy eat three teaspoons of it, don a cowboy hat and step onto the mats. He went nuts and tried to powerbomb the guy through the floor and got DQ'd.
John Joe, didn't know you had an account here.

Was gonna say why would tamoxifen show up. I dont think most of them drugs would give a great advantage as a boxer, as a bodybuilder certainly but not as a boxer.warmachine wrote:no mate that is what i admitted to using in 6 years, my sample only contained epo. maybe read it again

Re: SET BACK FOR WHYTE!
Sorry mate, it read like that on the site at first glance, but I guess the bit I've highlighted shows that it was a combo of a positive sample, plus the 'use or attempted use' bit. Just shows what you get in this world for being honest I suppose:warmachine wrote:no mate that is what i admitted to using in 6 years, my sample only contained epo. maybe read it againTheCobra wrote:Larry Olubamiwo's sample contained:

Got some nasty little side effects also. I was a little bit stunned to see it in the list.

Agree mate, it's a powerful drug, very powerful indeed, as are a lot of those drugs on the list. Always amazes me what people are willing to put in their body for short-term gain, who knows what long-term side effects that whole concoction is going to have on your health Larry.stujones wrote:Also used to treat Male and Female Breast Cancerwarmachine wrote:Tamoxifen isnt a steroid. it is used to prevent bitch tits or moobsthe truth wrote:Off course they would !!! My attitude towards any man-made 'self improvement' drug is that they are un-natural and therefore in some way will have some side-effects and potentially damage the body long-term. I therefore avoid all drugs if I can, unless treating an injury/swelling with something fairly weak like Ibuprofen which is a necessary evil sometimes.

remember i have a pharmaceutical chemistry degree and so i know the dangers of these drugs and they are VASTLY overstated. in reasonable doses they are fine as long as u dont have a pre existing condition.

And I always monitored my health with regular blood tests which were always in good order.
Re: SET BACK FOR WHYTE!
I once knew a steroid user who said exactly the same things: that he knew what he was doing, wasn't using harmful amounts and was well educated into what he was putting into his body.
He has heart problems, high blood pressure, chronic depression and fleeting suicidal thoughts.
But it was nothing to do with his years of cycling on and and off steroids. Nothing at all.
Not really having a go at you mate. I dabble occasionally with the odd recreational drug. It's your health. But I wouldn't use PEDS. If I seriously hurt or killed somebody in competition I would struggle to live with it. If I had been using PEDS I would never be able to live with the guilt. It would be a case of what if... Forever.
Will you go back to the fight game once you have served your ban?

Congratulations! You're good at doping. What's your point?
Re: SET BACK FOR WHYTE!
Yeah, Tamoxifen especially. My mum has been on it for health reason with Cancer for years - clear side effects and also quite expensive according to the NHS.TheCobra wrote:

That one thing that does frustrate me about the "roid ragers". There are people who need some of the drugs for health effects - yet the NHS will frequently say "sorry, we will stop giving you tamoxifen now - its done its job and its expensive" - my mum has had that, they seem to be readily available to Body builders.
Insulin jabs is another, came very close to have a car crash as a passenger because this bouncer mate of mine who was driving passed out at the wheel. He later fessed up that he was injecting himself with Insulin - just for performance enhancement.... Idiot.

Haha - well the two times Ricky Hatton didn't balloon up in weight between fights and I am sure neglected his morning fry up was against Mayweather and Pacquiao.banjo wrote:What happened to the days of steak, cigarettes and beer? Now it's all Nellywellyhixxypoppydropeline or some shite.

But seriously I don't understand these supplements, do they really make that much of a difference?
Re: SET BACK FOR WHYTE!
Psychology is quite a bit of it. Got a little bit a background in Diet, Nutrition and Drugs and its affect on behaviour. Not a specialised degree like Larry but taken many many modules on it upto and including Masters level and teach on these modules now at Undergraduate.banjo wrote:stujones wrote:Haha - well the two times Ricky Hatton didn't balloon up in weight between fights and I am sure neglected his morning fry up was against Mayweather and Pacquiao.banjo wrote:What happened to the days of steak, cigarettes and beer? When I showed my proffessor a supplement and diet sheet that Arnold Schwazenger claimed he was doing when in the height of his body building days.... my proffesor said, all he is creating is expensive piss.

Re: SET BACK FOR WHYTE!
On average boxers are worse now than they were in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. This is largely because the talent pool is smaller, because of reduced participation, but it is also because the importance of strength, conditioning and supplementation has been over-estimated and the hugely increased percentage of training time dedicated to these things has been to the detriment of time spent working on skills and sparring. Getting "fighting fit" is easy but selling that concept isn't profitable so there has been an effort to pretend it's complicated in order to sell shit, it's worked. Getting skilled is difficult, harder to teach and takes a lot of time and isn't profitable and can't be made profitable, so it's suffered.banjo wrote:stujones wrote:Haha - well the two times Ricky Hatton didn't balloon up in weight between fights and I am sure neglected his morning fry up was against Mayweather and Pacquiao.banjo wrote:What happened to the days of steak, cigarettes and beer? There are loads of big, ripped, strong, fit scary looking blokes who have got to where they've got by any combination of decent genetics, hard training, eating well and supplementing their diets with legal and illegal products. Most of them don't box/fight. Those that do are often shit. So, in answer to your question, supplements and PEDs work but they don't automatically make people into better boxers.
Re: SET BACK FOR WHYTE!
Nail on the head mate, it's a dangerous cycle that these users enter into. Such a casual approach that unfortunately it would appear Larry has also bought into. Casually pop this into your body and 'oh well, may as well have a bit of this to stop the bitch tits', erm, it's an anti-cancer drug that completely changes the hormone balance in your body. Amazing what these people are willing to do just to have the 'body beautiful'.clopixolacuphase wrote:I once knew a steroid user who said exactly the same things: that he knew what he was doing, wasn't using harmful amounts and was well educated into what he was putting into his body.

I don't care what degree you've got, putting substances into your body on a regular basis will lead to side-effects and potential long-term damage to organs, nervous system etc etc. Each to their own if it's just pumping weights to look like rhino man, but it's such a dangerous game when coming into a fighting sport with that casual approach to drug use.
