Andrew Flintoff is expected to make his professional boxing debut against two-fight novice Richard Dawson, Sportsmail can exclusively reveal.


The 23-year-old heavyweight from Oklahoma remains undefeated but has fought just five rounds in total since his first bout in February.


The American’s promoters expect to receive the contract later on Friday ahead of the fight on November 30 at the Manchester Arena.
Dawson’s first opponent Jimmy Lane retired on his stool after the first of four scheduled rounds before he was declared the unanimous winner against Jamell Williams in August. Both boxers were deducted points for holding in what was a dull contest which should give Flintoff hope.

Here's an interesting note. Earlier this year, Kimbo Slice was reported to have knocked a 1-0 guy called Richard Dawson out in about 30 seconds, in Oklahoma. There was some confusion in the days afterwards when it turned out his opponent wasn't Dawson but another guy. Some people tried saying it was Dawson fighting under another name. I'm 99% sure it wasn't. I hope Flintoff's crew haven't gone off that alone because the guy Kimbo smashed was a pasty little whiteboy whereas Dawson is a big black dude who looks like an extra from Boyz in the Hood.

If him and Barry big spuds sat down and said we are hoping to win a English title or a British title that's our aim then there would seem to be a purpose behind it, but what are the plans for him ? Why is he doing it ? What does he want to achieve ? People keep saying that. I've even said it myself. I've now changed tack. Why do we think he has to win? The people making the programme almost certainly have more to gain if he gets rinsed. The TV show is airing weeks after the fight has happened. I'm sure they'd get far more viewers tuning in to see Flintoff get poleaxed than they would to see him limp to a dull points victory over an obvious plant. If I were a cold hearted, cynical producer, I'd throw him to the lions for viewing figures.

McGuigan is still a boxing man at heart and he will know Flintoffs limitations. I am confident McGuigan wouldn't allow such a scenario to take place, or at least he wouldn't be a part of it.
