You just missed a great win for Paul Butler...but I understand your frustration. IJL ruined what was shaping up to be an intriguing contest.
He's had his knockers in the past, rightly or wrongly, but nobody can defend him tonight.

He's had his knockers in the past cos he's a terrible ref who makes a LOT of mistakes. I don't think much of the criticism he gets is unfair.

absolutely, everyone can have a bad day at the office but IJL's scoring and refereeing is on par with the CSA's maladministration!!

Don't get me wrong I think he's a terrible referee but on occasions you look at some of his stoppages a second and third time and you can possibly see why he stepped in. However, more often than not he makes ridiculous stoppages and tonight was the worst I've ever seen.

Just youtubed a clip of the Mc Kenzie / Maccrinelli fight. What the hell was he at for that stoppage. Looked at Maccrinelli stood in front of Maccrinelli for ages before stopping it.

Also his judging has been very bad aswell. I think he has to go because he is becoming so bad all round.

Wasn't he given a severe warning last year after that Prizefighter in Liverpool for his terrible scoring? Must be getting demoted for that then. "Star class ref"? He makes the Board look ridiculous

The BBBoC have a serious decision to make here. I think anyone who has followed the last ten of Enzo's fights probably had concerns about what a destructive puncher like Ovill could do to him, especially coming down to light heavy. Also, any defence of IJL's stoppage is likely to centre around the "ref's principle responsibility is to protect the fighters" line.
But we're talking professional boxing here....and there has to be a responsibility to the paying public, the TV viewing public and the fact that Enzo's livelihood is at stake. The stoppage to me reeked of IJL expecting Enzo to find himself in trouble early...and it's a dangerous precedent when a referee acts that way. Reminded me of Jim Watt's commentary of the Morales v Maidana fight when Jim spent the first three or four rounds convinced Morales was shot and on the verge of being blown out.

Fair play to Ovill for offering the rematch so early....but it should never be left to the fighters/promoter to compensate for a ref's failings.

Oh....and if IJL was suffciently contrite to apologise to Enzo, maybe he'll deign to do the same to the fans too?

It's true, IJL's refereering and judging has been consistantly poor over a long peiod. If I was consistantly that poor over such a long period in my job, I'd be on the dole now. Surely he should be downgraded from top status to a lower one for a period of re-training and assessment as to his ability to do the job.

I think we should compile IJL's rap sheet
Ref - Klitschko Briggs
Judge - Dallas Page
Judge - Purdy Lynes

Recently off the top of my head, what else do you have?

Prizefighter wayne reed v joe ainscough. Reed beat him up for 3 rounds and knocked him down. Scored it 30-27 for ainscough. I do believe mr Lewis had a slap on the wrists

That was the worst. Completely unfathomable. How he have that round to ainscough when he was dropped I will never know. He would have been better off just admitting he made a mistake.
